Ready on the start line with host nation England as the tournament favourites. Whilst I agree with that ranking, I would bet that West Indies and New Zealand could spring a shock. Not forgetting that cheating Aussie bar-stewards. Should be a great advert for the game - big games, big names and, hopefully, sometime weather. Enjoy.

Pakistans win today puts England in real danger. They move 1 point with both teams having 2 games to play. England obviously have NZ and India left, whilst Pakistan have Afghanistan and Bangladesh. There is a real chance England will need to win both games to qualify.

England have their backs up against the wall. Like in most sports confidence plays a huge part. Pakistan must really fancy their chances of a semi-final place looking at the remaining group games. England must get back on track and play to their strengths. Maybe time for an appearance by Sam Curran and for Bairstow, Morgan and Butler to show real application. I am not a huge fan of Ben Stokes as a person but at least he has displayed the right approach. Oh for an in-form Alex Hales even with all his baggage. Pity the snobbish selectors could not forgive and forget like they did with Stones. James Vince is simply out of his depth and his regular failures simply heep extra early pressure on the remaining batsmen. Oh, and finally, get Moen Ali out of the side.

Wow, what a day.
More excitement today at Lords than there is in an entire season at the NIC!
Congratulations to England, absolutely brilliant. ๐

An incredible final, glad Sky let it get shown on C4.
NZ were hugely unlucky, defended a lowish total brilliantly and were that deflection away from being World Champs. Stokes and Buttler were excellent though, especially the former to come back out for the super over when he was clearly knackered.
Astonishing evening's viewing.

Never seen a game like it. Apparently, some law of average says that the next tied World Cup final will happen in 400 years time. Hopefully weโll have won the league again by then.

Overall a great tournament which can increase the public interest and awareness of the sport around the country. Notts' own Alex Hales must be kicking himself for missing out on the chance to become a World Champion due to his various indiscretions.
