A mention on the Sports personality award evening this years end would be appreciated. Now you're dreaming kid You called this one wrong Pidge re Worlds outcome, will you be so sure here? We used to have our domestic winners mentioned in the past. I'd not be as plucky to say it would happen since they avoided us over recent national success in 2018 but I think they ought to.

I've just watched the goals again and Farmers goal is almost a carbon copy of his hat-trick goal against Torpedo!
Davies with the GWG goal but let's not forget Farmer has now produced a huge moment two consecutive years now for GB.
He didn't get a goal today but I was really impressed with Kirk too. For the first time I saw a little of what everybody in orange has been banging on about. I hope he really kicks on and can be a big player for GB over the next 10+ years.
Also I wonder how Lacho was feeling when we were killing his penalty with 4 minutes left.

Lacho owes Ollie a beer or 3 for his outstanding work on that Kill Considering the penalty kill has been (understandably) ripped to shreds this year, it’s a testament to them that their heads didn’t drop when they got that penalty. Ollie nearly coughed up a lung on that shift.

Wow, what a comeback, that was like a proper blood and thunder Play Off game
Obviously some things need improving on such as PK and not over hitting passes but hopefully that can be worked on
I'm wondering what staying up does for us, moving up in the rankings, invitations to tournaments, number of clubs in the CHL...etc.
As Italy survived also could we get them next year as well as 1 of the promoted teams. Are there any other nations we stand a chance against

Just like to add what a superb tournament Stevie Lee has had, to say he was soo badly injured that guy has battled back against the odds and he has been immense. A big Well Done Stevie.

I have a quote for certain people on here...
The Untouchables (1987) Kevin Costner as Elliot Ness "Never stop fighting 'til the fight is done".
Nothing is certain, nothing is pre-ordained. Probabilities are not certainties.
It is so very easy to look at rosters, to compare stats... but those are just words and numbers. This sport is played by human beings... flawed, brilliant, erratic, driven, unpredictable... human.
I have now watched GB in 16 World Championships, 2 Olympic qualifying rounds and more challenge games than I can remember... and I still can't predict what will happen. I didn't see this result coming... not before the game, definitely not at 0-3 down, not even at 2-3 down (although I had hope).
This is the beauty of sport. Nothing is certain... that is why they call it "competition".
Those who are too narrow-minded or self-righteous will no doubt take this as (in their eyes, unfair) criticism - if so, then so be it. If you have an open mind, it's more like transmission of experience. Whatever...
I'll leave it there. I still haven't fully wrapped my head around it all, but I don't care - I'm out in a bar in Presov imbibing a ridiculous amount of rum, and not giving a damn. I hope the rest of you enjoyed what you saw... I certainly did.
GB BARMY ARMY!!!

Are there any other nations we stand a chance against I think it's likely we'll be in a group with one of the promoted teams(hopefully Belarus because Kazakhstan we don't match up well with) but depending on how the rankings work out it's not impossible we end up in a group with Italy also I think but I'm sure Shaggy probably knows how this all plays out much better than me. France and Austria going out is certainly going to make 1A interesting next year. Whoever we are in a group with though we now know better than to rule out survival and we aren't there just to make up the numbers. In terms of ranking, logic to me suggests there won't be a huge improvement on the back of a single win if at all but again I think Shaggy will know more. CHL places aren't influenced by national rankings at all. I think because Cardiff had a poor year points wise in the CHL the EIHL actually went backwards in terms of weighting points but with us having 2 teams next season this should hopefully negate this if both teams can pick up some points. There's actually quite a good explanation on the CHL website how they rank leagues, essentially though we'll only ever have 1 place by default, it's only the Continental Cup that will gain us that 2nd spot. Certainly for the foreseeable future anyway unless the EIHL blows up(in a good way, not an MK way😂).

I reckon we'll need 2 wins to stay up. Most likely just one... France. If we can beat one team (probably France) and they don't beat anyone else or get 4+ OT loser points, then we stay up. You called it Shaggy!!!

Just woke up and it wasn't a dream. Now I need to get a copy of this game/ series. For that matter last years too. The powers that be ought to put something out if copyright allows. I didn't record I think and I'm on holiday ......most of yesterday spent back at the cottage biting my nails.

Certainly for the foreseeable future anyway unless the EIHL blows up(in a good way, not an MK way😂). I'm not quite as knowledgeable as that, but I'll try... Re the CHL... you are correct, rankings for national teams are totally unrelated to club competitions. The national rankings are a nightmare to work out... I believe that we are currently ranked at 20... my guess is that we will only gain 1 or 2 rankings off the back of this, if that. However, there are also the Olympic pre-qualifiers next February which may help us on ranking points, although I doubt that would affect us before Switzerland. Re the other teams in our group next May... normally I would agree with you about preferring Belarus in our group. However, Belarus are co-hosting the Worlds in 2021, which means by IIHF rules they cannot be relegated the year before. So if we were in their group and they ended up in 8th place, we would need to finish in 6th place not 7th to avoid relegation. A much harder task.

BBC breakfast honours us with pictures and spiel on our endeavours in Slovakia. Job done.
Points towards national teams are awarded to where you finish each year...when awarded ours last years total is cut by a quarter I believe then again by a quarter. This happens over for years, so 100% then 75% etc.... therefore 100% now and 75% of last years tally and so on. IF that's still how they do it. We were ranked 22 pre tournament.
Shaggy your up! No Rum hangover?

No Rum hangover? You're right... ranked 22. Estimated to go up to 20 or maybe even 19. Not a 'headache' hangover as such, but definitely feeling delicate... we celebrated hard last night (this morning!). Now on the coach to Kosice to watch all 3 neutral games today... glutton for punishment! I think that there are a few people who haven't made it...

A couple of quirky notes from yesterday...
- that's the second year in a row that #10 Robert Farmer has scored to take GB to overtime in the last game.
- every game when we've been behind (eg: 0-5 down) the Barmy Army have cheekily sang "we're going to win 6-5" (or whatever) ... except for yesterday - and we DID win 4-3! Go figure...
Speaking of singing, while still on the ice after winning, the GB players started singing "we're poo poo and we know we are!"... they've been getting quite a lot of attention from all over the place for that, ranging from amusement to respect. But then, the amount of respect that they've been getting has been immense.
