Will be very difficult to get anything, and probably be straight back again, but great to be in this company for once.
Reckon we've got a slight chance to surprise Denmark or France, but not holding out much hope really.
Could be a bit of a shop window for a few?

France's star player Texier is currently with the Bluejackets on their playoff run. He may join the team if the Bruins turn that series around. He should have plenty of energy only being 19.
Jack Hughes reported to be joining up with Team U.S. after his outstanding performances at the U18 Worlds.

I reckon we'll need 2 wins to stay up.

I reckon we'll need 2 wins to stay up. Most likely just one... France. If we can beat one team (probably France) and they don't beat anyone else or get 4+ OT loser points, then we stay up.

Realistically if we can pick up a single point then we have probably overachieved.
You never know, though. Shocks happen in sport.

Based on the efforts of South Korea last year in Denmark as a close comparison, to avoid conceding double figures in select games will be a great effort.
Scoring more than than their total of 4 goals should be considered a great effort.
Picking up any points in the standings will be a monumental achievement.
Whilst people may expect us to be close to France, watching them live last year as a national team they could cause us real problems.
We must remember that what GB achieved last year was quite miraculous. However we are there on merit and being the underdog plays into the British mentality. In the grand scheme there are no expectations on this team on the elite stage so we should go all out and just see how we get on. Very much looking forward to the trip to Slovakia to watch them in action.

Not necessarily 2 wins but I think 2 points!
Ideally we needed to play France first. Texier wont be playing and GB will be fresh to have a good go at them.. game 7 could be alot harder on their bodies

I love the underdog, I hope there’s a few surprises along the way and that all the fans have a great time despite the challenges they have faced getting accommodation & tickets . I know our Brits are really looking forward to playing some of the top names out the NHL.

For this Challenge match pre tournament v Slovakia
Shaggy, I have PM'd you asking for your help in getting a programme (if there is one) or at least a team sheet? Or if someone can help....I recall Pete offered regards a WC prog (but I'm sorted there on that one)...a bit late but trying not to miss this if there is something in that regard for this challenge game.
If anyone can help, just get in touch here. I will keep tabs.

1-0 after one, just joined in and don't know what line up Slovakia have but seems we are coping ok.
2nd best obviously but Farmer gets one back for 2-1 at near end of second.
Opps 3-1
getting annoyed now, every time the stream has a glitch they score...4-1
Expected result 6-1 at end but better or worse next week, this was but a challenge/friendly.

WC1A
Whatever happens in the top pool this year.
Kazakhstan and Belarus are going up there next year. Probably the top two favourites anyway. But Slovenia and Hungary are having a nightmare. However they finish by the end of tomorrow, South Korea (though losing to **) and Lithuania** would say they had done well.

We’re effectively the underdogs in a mini league involving France and Demark, get a result against one of those and we could be doing it all again next year. Slovakia have plenty of NHL experience in their first two lines on both D and Offence so it’s no surprise they swept us aside. Even young lads like Jaros for them who are just breaching the NHL are streets ahead of our lads.

You can forget getting anything from the Denmark game they have several match winners who are pretty much world class. Dont think because the EIHL is on a par with their league we ll be well matched. Their national players are a cut above!

I don't think we'll get anything either but some Clan fans reckon we'll beat Canada & USA, not making this up.
Plus they're calling out Clan fans who are being realistic by calling them negative, since when is it negative to point out an obvious gulf in class.

A little bit of perspective here...
It's a mistake to make too many assumptions about how a game will go, but we also have to inject a healthy dose (note: not OVERdose) of realism. GB to beat USA or Canada? Not 100% impossible, but realistically speaking the chances are on the wrong side of hilarious. GB to beat Denmark? Or even Germany? A small chance, perhaps... but who the hell wants to go to a tournament where there are no small chances, where everything is a sure thing?
Last year in Budapest, hardly anyone gave GB any chance of getting a medal. Most of us went out there believing that the objective was simply to avoid relegation. The first game for sixth-seeded GB was against first-seeded Slovenia... and GB won. Big surprise. Well, we all know how that tournament ended up...
GB can win a game or even two, stay up at the top level, confound all expectations. It won't be easy - in fact it will be damned hard - but it could happen. And please... let's not jump on the bandwagon of assuming that just because this or that team has this or that player, they are automatically going to roll over this or that opponent. We've all seen 'sure thing' dominant teams fail miserably, all seen underdogs overachieve. Nothing is certain.

Apparently Myers is a bulldog in the corners.. more often than not he got tossed off the puck like a kid at peewee!

I'd even say to them Ice Hockey is not for them with such idiotic statements lol
