www.panthers.co.uk/home/190429-doucetFrom the club’s latest article (linked) they have all but confirmed that Rheault and Lepine will be returning for their 2nd year. This was expected news but I’m still disappointed. Maybe I’m being harsh on Rheault considering he was injured for the majority of the season, but they were both passengers in my eyes and were two of the last players we should have kept on, university deal or not. I think we need to start being wiser with who we select for these deals.

I agree I thought Lepine was poor, Rheault maybe can give him a full year see what he can do. Farmer and Perlini are on two year deals right?

I agree 100%, I would have Lepine as injury cover at best, he is very lucky to be on a Uni deal, otherwise I am sure he would have been out the door. A real shame as already the team is at a significant disadvantage.

Not wishing to state the bloody obvious but a persons form this season has no bearing on their future form, different coach different style both could surprise and impress you, it's not impossible.

Rheault maybe can give him a full year see what he can do. Get injured for half of it again? Both were hugely disappointing, although they weren't exactly alone. The others sound like optional deals, so presumably either party can break them at this juncture.

Thought both Lepine and Rheault were absolute rubbish last year but I remember Eric Werner being awful in his first year and arguably player of the season the following year so you never know, they could turn it around.
A new coach, new ideas. Probably one of the more optimistic posts I've made for a while.

You must have poor memory....Eric Werner was arguably the best defenceman in the league in his first year (2012/13) when we won it, and then got injured in his second season ruling him out for the remainder...

Werner was stand out both seasons even after his injury! Think we should look at Brian Schmidt for a player who has a difficult first season then has a much much better second season. Defends who he’s paired with and what kind of game he asked to play. If he’s not captain as well that might help. Nobody knows

Not surprised by this, but still disappointed. Personally I wouldn't have had either back, despite Lepine seeming to improve near the end of the season. Oh well...

A real shame as already the team is at a significant disadvantage. If it works out this way (and we have 7 dmen) I think we should rotate Lepine and Tetlow in that 6th slot on defence. As you say it feels like a setback, but hopefully we can sign some proven, quality players who allow them to raise their game.

It’s the deadline to retain ST seats tomorrow so I imagine the club might announce something on the pair if that’s the case

Rheault looked good at the start of the season on a line with Pither, got injured and then never really got going. Agree he might be better with a new coach, but very disappointed Lepine is back

Its easy to think about Fox, Ling and KWall, but we have not had a defender of Werners ability since.

Rheault’s comments about fans on twitter should have been enough reason alone to show him the door.

Looks likely, if players poor seasons doesn't mean they will play badly a second. We might as well sign em all up again...right?

Rheault’s comments about fans on twitter should have been enough reason alone to show him the door. What was the comment? Seems its been deleted? A fan called the team out for their performances this season, wasn’t abusive or derogatory I might add, and Rheault didn’t like it one bit; mentioned the players did care about performances, were professional players, something else that was similar and then bemoaned about being chastised on social media “by fans like you.” Storm in a tea cup, but nice to see some shade thrown his/their way all the same. Some of them have stolen a living this season.

Rheault and Lepine confirmed as returning for year two of their contracts. I'd hope to get better results from Rheault, certainly. A 12 goal pace season isn't what most people were expecting.
