I haven’t been to a games for months but will be at the weekend. Anyone able to tell me what the lines have been recently? Cheers Rob I’ve missed a few games recently too mate but from what I can remember from the quarter final, the forward lines were:- Stewart/Perlini/Farmer Rheault/Hurtubise/Richard Bolduc/Pither/Henderson Betteridge/Lachowicz/Guptill First line is quality, still not sold on Guptill being on the 7/74 line though. Cheers Ted, What about the D pairings?

Cant get 2 semi finals on for the supposed showpiece event but can show live womens hockey ! I assume its the league that don't want the semi's showing so they can get some extra money in via webcasts

Which would most likely be of interest to more people? It was more the dismissive tone of showing women’s hockey that I was reacting to. FreeSports/Premier have rights rights to the Under 18 six nations rugby which starts on Saturday with 3 live games and take precedence. They get far bigger viewing figures and Premier/FreeSports pay for the rights, therefore that will always take priority. I dont disagree with you at all Jono. But it does seem an odd choice.

Let's be honest freesports don't help themselves with their selective coverage

How much extra would it of cost I wonder to have the cameras there an extra day for the semi’s ? I can’t imagine it would be mega money. And how did 5 days of dull as dishwater hockey from Dumfries get coverage, who paid for that or was it free ? I’d love to see the viewing figures, bet they were terrible.

You really do not have the first clue. I've already explained why the semi's won't be on in an earlier post. As a free to air channel FreeSports lives or dies by what it can recoup in advertising revenue. Therefore they will choose sports that are affordable and likely to bring in viewers to increase said advertising revenue. A ice hockey event such as the play-offs will cost in the region of 3 times more to broadcast per game as it will use more camera's & production than a normal EIHL game. Also FreeSports were very happy with the viewing figures from Dumfries which were higher than expected from what I was told by people who know these things. You may have found it dull, many thousands didn't.

B. they want to bank the semi webcast money. And if Freesports got more advertising for Dumfries then somebody at EIHL towers should be saying hang on a minute, why can’t we attract that ?

How many more times! They are not showing the Semi's because they are showing three U18 six nations games which will bring in far more viewers & revenue. It really is as simple as that.

Blimey have this Freesports outfit only got one camera then ? They don’t half pick some tripe to cover don’t they. 🙄

The women's hockey was ok, saw a couple of the games. Certainly seen many worse EIHL games over the years.
Glad the final's on for free, will tune in for that.

I'm happy to see the women's game on the TV rather than not at all. Some exposure for them at least. I suppose the semi's (though not live) will be shown in clips before the main event?

However what I have noticed is that there doesn't seem to be the weekly show they do which is disappointing because it should have covered The Quarter Finals.
When Sky Sports covered The Final, they didn't show The Semis (And they had more channels)
I'm guessing the only other option was to use The Panthers model and put it on Youtube and get sponsorships

Without wishing to sound 'sexist' I found what bits of the women's game from Dumfries that I saw was slow & boring. Just like women's football & cricket. I've tried to embrace it but it's just not for me.

Reading various forums and social media platforms it’s interesting to see people’s opinions on how this weekend will pan out.
I get the feeling that we are very much the underdogs and a lot of fans are dismissing us, which is fair considering how we’ve played at times this season. But, I think the fans of all the other teams will be in for a big shock this weekend, we’re going to make it loud, the players will be going full tilt and I think the underdog tag will spur our players, and fans, on

Looks like they have announced The Overtime rules.
Semi Finals it's 3v3 for 10 minutes then a Shootout.
Final, it's continuous Overtime, 5v5, No Shootout.
3v3 is fine for Regular Season however for Play Offs, I think it's unsuitable, makes it very easy to have chances. Advancement to The Final should be earned.
Definitely surprised that it's continuous Overtime for The Final. With it being on TV, I would have thought that they would try and have the game finished within a certain timeframe which would have included the possibility of Overtime.
I figured they wouldn't want a repeat of that Cardiff V Sheffield Final a couple of years back
