As the question states if you was coach who would you pick to start in goal for the play offs?
I choose GARNETT, tho munson has been red hot and in better form, the play offs are huge, and id like to see the experienced garnett get the nod.
id like to see him bring his chl form to the table and put in some stellar performances to lead us to the weekend, if like rumoured is true he will be calling time at the end of the year what a way to sign off.
Take nothing away from munson over the last few weeks he has improved and its red hot right, just not sure how i feel about a goalie in his 1st pro season lead us into the play series.
Vote away and give your reasons for that vote.

I’ve chosen Garnett. As you mention his form in the CHL was absolutely unbelievable, IF he can turn that on then we will have a chance in every game. At times this season we’ve seen him win us games, the last Cardiff game being a good example of that. He also missed out on playing in the meaningful playoff games last season, I’m hoping Mike will sieze the opportunity this time around and finish the season the right way.
Munson has been superb recently, and arguably playing better than Garnett, but taking all the factors into it Mike should be starting these games, and I’m sure Munson will understand and agree with that decision.
One point that has already been mentioned on here is the fact that Gospel should get some game time against Guildford.

Go with the hot goalie. Munson doesn't seem to lack confidence.

Munson is more assured!! Hes the one in form..
Put it this way people. If garnetts head goes in the 1st leg the series will be over before it returns to Nottingham!

I'd go with two import Nettie's. Trevor Robins to start with Craig Kowalski as back-up.

Just my opinion, but the team to me don't seem to play too well with Garnet in goal. The only reason that I can attach to this is that they don't worry so much about opponents going past them with such a shot stopper behind them. The trouble is that if this coincides with Garnet behind a particularly awful defence, we've had it.
As I say, my opinion only, but could explain some of the terrible displays that we've seen throughout the season.
In answer to the thread, I'd play Munson with Gospel in as backup.. Play the hot goalie and have an extra outskater

Play the hot goalie and have an extra outskater you cant play then both in net, that's not fair on the opposition.

Garnett is my call. Fingers crossed we get him at the top of his game with no unforced bloopers. Munson reminds me of Pacl with parts of his approach to the game and is not good enough yet to carry a team's play-off ambitions.

Personally if they start Garnett next Saturday they ll soon regret it, and let's not hear the old line "well the d hung him out to dry" if Garnett gets shelled. The goalie HAS to be the best player on the team come playoffs irrespective of how bad the D plays. Hes been inconsistent all year. Not seen him play anywhere near since the stint in the CHL last year. Munson alot more assured and doesn't flap half as much.

By "back to back", do you mean consecutive nights, or consecutive games? If the former, it was 2/3 February. if the latter, 23 Feb and 2 March.

And there lies the problem so a Panthers goalie hasn't played back to back games in almost 2 months! Have the Belfast and devils goalies only been playing half a weekend?

Was going to vote play Garnett, but if it’s that long since he played back to back nights then that’s a big worry. I’d go Munson in the 1st leg then and probably Garnett in the 2nd,unless Munson had a blinder in the 1st leg.

And there lies the problem so a Panthers goalie hasn't played back to back games in almost 2 months! Have the Belfast and devils goalies only been playing half a weekend? But hang on, that's the point of having 2 "number 1" goalies. One doesn't have to do all the work...? Munson's signing was roundly applauded to take the weight off Garnett, which it has done, yet now it's a bad idea? You yourself called it "quite a clever move" at the time. Make your mind up. Garnett's played less games as a result than even Whistle, who had Climie keep him on the bench for a while, and got much better stats than last year as a result. Devils and Giants especially have put all their eggs in one basket this year and have been lucky that Beskodoodah/Bowns haven't got injured. It's only Guildford and Panthers that have had 2 import goalies for most of the season, sharing the load, but the pros for one are the cons for the other. Bowns has played every game bar one for Cardiff, Besko 53 of 59 for Belfast. Tremendous efforts both, but if they'd got injured, who knows what may have happened? Worth mentioning that Munson has the best stats of any goalie in the league with >10 games played. Play Munson away and start Garnett at home? Munson is 6 for 8 at home and 1 for 4 away in wins terms. Maybe start Garnett away and Munson at home?

My thinking was Garnett seems to come good in the bigger games and the 2nd leg is arguably the bigger game.

I think it's sad that Munson is having to sell his jersey to help fund a flight over for his dad to watch him in the playoffs.. Surely Panthers could've sorted it out, in the grand scheme of things a flight isn't going to do much to the Panthers budget.

She’s in outstanding form and the team definately play a different game when he’s in nets, I don’t think they protect Garnett as much and maybe that’s because he has so much more experience and it allows them more freedom, I worry that one poor game at this critical point of the season would crush his confidence & does he really have the nerve going into a playoff weekend under a totally different atmosphere. I really hope so.
