One league title in nice years says more than enough. Always has, always will. It's indefensible from the whole organization though, not entirely on Neilson at all. But we already know this. It is indefensible when you consider Nottingham's advantages over say Cardiff for example regards resources, finance (both sponsorship and fan numbers) and other more intangibles such as being centrally located so less travel etc and yet who is likely to bet against Cardiff making it three in a row. This smacks of priorites (something that should be evident in actions rather than physical proof) with panthers appearing to prioritise making as much money as possible for as little effort whereas it would seem Cardiff prioritise winning on the ice... Now rationally a club needs to be successful off the ice to be successful on it but surely the raison d'etre of a professional hockey club should be to win hockey games and hence trophies which in my opinion does not feel like it is the driving force and company statement in Nottingham... As for indefensible I believe the club don't even bother trying, now what's that phrase.... good seats still available (wasn't that a misquoted line from slapshot? Panthers can generate a fan base with or without success, or so it seems anyway. For every fan that doesn't bother anymore there's someone else to take their place.

And therein lies the issue.... this un-exhaustible supply of new blood will dry out eventually and then the gravy train will cease and more than likely the club once it starts not making what I believe to be substantial profits right now will most likely go the way of wasps vipers and more recently capitals...

Those very words in your last sentence were said to me Jord about four years ago by a member of Panthers management. It says it all and explains a lot does that !

Will it dry out though, Tex? What are the dangers to Panthers' fan base...? Forest expanding TCG & getting in the Prem, maybe a little. Other than that the location is excellent, the 'entertainment' is still there for many & the environment provides something no other local sporting event can offer. There's plenty of happy clappers & casual fans out there yet.

Meanwhile, Rich Chernomaz's Ravensburg side cruised through with a 4-0 sweep.....funny old game.

Most of the responses on their twitter from fans were positive messages thanking the club for their performance over the season. They're sad they're out of the playoffs but the general consensus was that they wouldn't even make playoffs at the start of the season and Corey instilled a season of great hockey for the fans despite being a lower budget side.
I feel for Corey but now he has an entire DEL2 season under his belt, I'm excited for him to see what happens next season. Even if Corey and Lausitzer got swept 4-0 it wouldn't take any of the praise away from Corey.

He also had a whole season to prepare his team for the DEL2 playoffs and scout the opposition he may face. The problem is said opposition coach sussed him out tactically already.. just like they did here.

The problem is said opposition coach sussed him out tactically already.. just like they did here. So it was all down to "sussing out tactics"? That what Danny Stewart's Blaze did to Cardiff last night? Or rather what Lord didn't do? 3 of the games went to OT, one other was a one goal game. Die Fuschse were an OT goal away (and we all know what a lottery that can be) from winning it 4-2.

It's great to see so many people on the forum were able to watch all 7 games and report back on where Corey supposedly failed..
