Was Rissling's more though because it considered a repeat offence? Agree though that that hit is worse that Rissling's. Bentivoglio clearly leads with a raised arm and catches him on the chin with his forearm Risslings was classed as a repeat offence yes....but that doesn’t triple the size of the ban.

It's laughable, isn't it. Shows yet again where the power lies.

Must be why the refuse to pay more than the top 3 spenders on their roster so they’ve got bribe money for DOPS

It’s unjust decisions like this recent Dops stuff coupled with various Panthers shortcomings that made me eventually give up last year. I just couldn’t take the EIHL seriously anymore,it seems too fake, dodgy, full of fiction to suit agendas and far too full of crap, spin, greed, amateurism and very questionable decisions to even be believable as a fair sport anymore. Time after time it makes you question things, then you become ultra cynical until one day the penny drops for the final time. It really is about time the EIHL got its house in order and stopped being a magnet for criticism, because at present they deserve all the self inflicted criticism they get.

Anyword on just what / who constitutes DOPES this season?? I've not seen any press releases alluding to the american ref still being involved, so are we to assume that its just Mike Hicks in his 'head of hockey operations' role?? Another classic EIHL conflict of interests having him as a ref, part of DOPES as well as his company (CH Sports) being Cardiff's jersey supplier...

Exactly my feeling too word for word. It's a fake league .. It's now pretty renowned for players coming here knowing it will be a easy ride. How many finish their playing careers here? I can never take this league serious anymore..ever! I miss the ISL for these reasons they had a independent body who ran it, had their own sponsor the level of play was light years ahead of this league and it will never be close . The only downside was the fact teams weren't spending within their means. Their was no obvious bias towards certain teams in the way you see now . Sad days ahead in afraid. I don't see things improving either and alot of fans are too blinkered to realise

The published FAQ says it's still run by Lyle Seitz.
Bentivoglio's hit was no worse than the cheap shot Rissling dished out in Sheffield, and only got 1 game for.

The published FAQ says it's still run by Lyle Seitz. In that case I stand corrected - it just seemed last year they made a big deal of it and this year not so much

It may well have changed and the EIHL powers that be either just haven’t remembered to alter it or not seen fit to change it in the hope nobody notices. I’m sure it would be cheaper for that clown Hicks to do it than pay Lyle Seitz. And right there is a classic case of my own cynicism towards the EIHL.

"The Panthers aren't as good as we hyped them up to be = the league is fixed"
With the Steelers too busy looking inwards at issues, and our fan base more concerned with arguments over cake and thinking the world was ending when we lose two games, I was wondering where the tin foil hat stuff would come from this season.
Now apologies if I don't respond, only Todd has asked me to pop some brown envelopes to various people ahead of the weekend...

He quite clearly hit the head,Rissling only alledgedly did according to a few but the vast majority of people thought he didn’t.

So how many games did he get for being a "repeat offender"?
Even if it was 3.. then that's still worse than the blatant head shot what SB did? Which ever way you dress it up it's a farce Rissling got 4 games more for a more unavoidable hit

Does that show that DOPS are biased in our favour?

Do they give you 9 points on your driving licence if you get caught speeding a second time ? Just my opinion but I don’t agree with it.

No, but you get banned eventually if you keep doing it.

Are there any Cardiff fans on here - the ones that were so quick to condemn Rissling - prepared to pass comment on this ban?
Not seen anything yet.........

Sorry chaps, was a bit busy.
Yep, Benti deserved his ban. If I remember rightly he did roughly the same thing to Stewart last year, who is still out of the game due to concussion.
If you’re asking me to tell you why Rissling received a long ban, I’d go with the following (but obviously I’m not a part of DOPS, so I have no new knowledge beyond their statement):
1. Rissling’s first point of contact was the head, whereas Bentivoglio is deemed to have made contact with chest and head.
2. Despite the timing it was considered ‘category 2 - reckless’ where as Bentivoglio’s was considered ‘category 1 - careless’. So they are saying there is a clear difference between the two plays. Looking at slo-mos it would appear that the blindside hit to the head before chest is the reason for the finding on the Rissling hit, as compared to the blind side hit to the chest and head at the same time is the reason for the finding on the Benti hit.
