Im not a fan of knee jerk reactions but i think this is the right move. Something is clearly very wrong. The last few weeks have been dire.
Square one again in the summer then.

Quick somebody post the Samaritans number for Pidge. 🤣 Nope I agree. Recent weeks I've noticed something so wrong with players body launguage etc and from what I hear this was only a matter of time, or most certainly in April. I believe in his 20 years of ownership it's the first time Black has ever pulled the trigger! (Blazer saw the cash at Steelers 1st time) all others just never had their contracts renewed

Wow. Big move from Panthers this. I'm quite surprised/impressed those in charge have actually done something. Don't you dare be positive.

Good news
Some of the worst performances I've ever witnessed this season, hopefully we can see what the players are really made of now.

At least Strachs know the players and the league although how much input he already has had in the team performances is unsure. Just hope he's not as boring as when he coached Hull but saying that our fortunes turned when he first came here to help out Corey, if I remember rightly we were on a bad run and after he joined we hardly lost a match. Scotland trip should be fun now.

Well done Panthers.
Let's hope for a positive reaction from the players and a good run in till the end of the season.

Perhaps our owner has actually made a decision on the back on poor results and not ticket sales eh.

I'm not surprised he's gone but I'm surprised he's been booted so quickly.
I'm sure Black and co. will be well aware of the fan base opinions, and to say the climate is toxic would probably be a slight understatement. It's far from a happy time at the moment and fans have been piling on pressure very heavily on the coaching and the players themselves. Something needed to be done quickly and Black has done it, thankfully. It relieves some pressure from him and the club for the time being and should things get worse, which hopefully they won't, he'll have 'we're looking to go above and beyond next season' as an excuse etc.
I don't think Rick will be the saviour, and I'm not expecting a massive difference to be made. I just want to see the players play for the badge and to give their all every game. That being said though, I think now more than ever Rick is going to want to get it right. He's got half a season as head coach, with a Cup Semi Finals and Playoffs to come. He has the opportunity to bag a trophy or two and secure the club European Hockey. There's a lot at stake, even if we are out of the league running. If things go to plan for Rick I could see him becoming head coach elsewhere, perhaps MK for next season. If things go how I'm expecting, win nothing and finish 4th-5th then I think he'll return to being Assistant for the future. But this is a huge opportunity for Rick and I hope he gets it right.

I’m not surprised at the news after the 2nd quarter of the season but I’m surprised the club have had the balls to make a decision rather than let it drag out.
The early stage of the season the promise of a tough, intimidating aggressive team was on show and it was successful. Ultimately the style of play got us in trouble penalty wise and Chernomaz then broke his promise.
Getting rid of catalysts such as Doty and Biggs and replacing them with players that have no right being on any team chasing for the title was never going to go well for us and that’s betore we even get to Tvrdon who I still don’t know what role he was brought in to do despite Rich having big plans for him.
Getting pumped at home on a regular basis and the performances being absolutely boring in the past few weeks makes me feel nothing more than relief that he has gone, which is disappointing considering how things started.

So who/what kind of coach would people like to see brought in the summer?

So who/what kind of coach would people like to see brought in the summer? To be honest, I think that’s something we need to worry about in the summer and I’d be surprised if they are even drawing together a short list. For now, I think we need to give the current two a chance. If we go on a huge unnetween run or at least have a winning record, could be we give Strachan a chance with Lepine next year. I think EIHL experience or at least knowledge is crucial.

So who/what kind of coach would people like to see brought in the summer? Had a very brief look at coaches in North America and I wouldn't mind these guys, there's obviously better out there but we have to be realistic. Aaron Schneekloth - Currently an AHL Assistant with Colorado Eagles, but won the ECHL Title for the past two seasons, also with Colorado Eagles (They moved from ECHL to AHL this season). Jarrod Skalde - Currently an AHL Assistant with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Has NHL, AHL and OHL experience. J.J. Daigneault - Currently an AHL Assistant with San Antonio, vast amount of experience including NHL. Perhaps out of our range. Eric Boguniecki - Currently an AHL Assistant with Bridgeport, 8 years coaching experience with NHL playing experience.

So who/what kind of coach would people like to see brought in the summer? Somebody with some character, fire and passion who says it how it is A Finnerty,Adams,Brock Wilson type character who will fire players up and give Panthers an identity. I’d rather that than somebody with perhaps a better coaching CV but who comes across as yet another dull, wet lettuce type yes man.

While getting the right coach is important. They also need to work out why after having good starts to Seasons, we have rubbish Christmas periods.
I feel that unless that gets worked out, it doesn't really matter who the coach is as it will be groundhog Day again.
I'm guessing the issues are a very hectic Christmas schedule, Scottish Triple Headers and possibly these school visits...etc.

It needs more than a change of coach to fix the issues with the Panthers.

For me it's probably the correct decision. The last 2 months really have been dreadful. Dull hockey and awful results. You can probably get away with one of the two but not both.
I don't agree that Strachan should automatically be here until the end of the season however. I wouldn't want us to rush a decision but there will be good coaches out there and if we could give him a month or two at the back end of this season to look at the team it'll give us a better chance next season.
What we'll end up with again by waiting until the end of the season is half a roster recruited by GM again before the season is finished. Wouldn't surprise me if we announced Lacho on a 5 year contract next week.
It's deeply cynical of me but at this point Neil Black is saving money on the year by I assume coming to a settlement agreement with Rich.
Take your time over this decision NB by all means but if the right man is available now then why wait?

The best decision and the club has acted accordingly. Not three possible trophies Mr.Black just an achievable (at most) two. If we think we are capable of a 'miracle on ice' where back to the last post by Jordv4.

The other teams are pretty good in general at getting better and Panthers stand still.
