Not sure i agree with much of these comments the facts are we lost on the sixth round of penalties, which is a lottery anyway ,we didnt get hammered. I agree we need someone to put the puck away a lot better than what we have right now, my take was first period they were quicker to the puck and passed it better that us, in the second it was a bit more even and the same in the third, but both netminders had solid games, nobody enjoys losing to them but some of the exagerations when we lose on penalties in here are hilarious in my opinion.
People say the atmosphere was dead well not in our block it wasnt, we then get the elitist fans in here slagging off what are in the end fellow paying customers who are contributing to you being able to watch any Hockey here simply because they dont behave in the manner you prescribe, maybe someone should print off a instruction sheet to hand to them ?
Then the standard of both teams are poor ! Well this is a beer league it always has been and that is the level you are watching, its not NHL, KHL, AHL or even Del is it? Its a bit like expecting a non league football team to play with the quality of a premiership team. It will never happen.

Surrounded by people getting hammered and have no idea about the game. Head it Kick it He touched it with his hand Why is the keeper out of his box Annoyed me so much Not quite that bad but I had a family sat next to me, they'd clearly been to a game before and seemed like fairly regular visitors.. however, the first thing the woman asked her husband.. 'Where's Clarke?' and that was quickly followed by 'Where's Bergin'.

Kevin Bergin, that’s a blast from the past, mind you he might have made the game a bit more interesting😂 It just shows the sort of people this game attracts.

Its a bit like expecting a non league football team to play with the quality of a premiership team. It will never happen. I know the EIHL will never be the best league in the world but in years past there was at least a degree of animosity between the players, there were characters who used to lift the atmosphere in games as well as on the ice. The league seems too friendly these days and as a result the games seem boring compared to even 5 years ago.

Yes losing on the sixth round of penalties makes defeat seem so much more acceptable! Elitist fans? Who? The ones who put something on here you don’t like? Maybe you should print a set of instructions of what people are allowed to post?

I think the passing, lack of physicality and questionable defending lost us the game tonight.
Just before Steelers equalised with their first Billingsley tried to pass it to Bolduc who was breaking towards the blue line. It would've led to a 1v1 if Bolduc had received the pass as you'd expect.. but no. Billingsley's pass rocketed into Bolduc's ankle and put him offside.
I saw a lot of failed passes which would've led to good chances or key shooting opportunities, do the players really think passing the puck to their teammates ankle is a good pass? I even saw Olsen dish it across the ice in the 3rd too, except that hit his teammate in the chest.
Way too many times we tried to stickcheck or push players rather than hit them. Frustrating watching a play where a simple body check would've broken up a play.
Lost count of how many shots Steelers had from the slot, open man every time. The 2nd Goal for Steelers, nice pass from whoever but had Rissling had his head in gear he'd have been in a position to cut the pass out but due to his poor positioning he missed it as it was out of reach.
The shootout was awful too, Kovacs got lucky, everyone elses shots were garbage. We seemed to try low every time and then Steelers do a relatively simple approach and Garnett slides miles out of position.

Can't wait for even one of them to return so Billingsley can go back to playing Defence, he's trash as a forward.

Its a bit like expecting a non league football team to play with the quality of a premiership team. It will never happen. I agree the penalties are a lottery but I expected a bit more creativity and invention from our guys. That atmosphere was good, definitely better than it’s been in recent weeks, the fans showed some passion it’s just a shame the players didn’t absorb it and play with the passion and intensity we saw at the start of the season. People are frustrated that we’ve lost, I’m sure you are, I think people react like they have because they are a poor, poor side. They work very hard and keep it simple. They scored two goals, the first a scruffy, scrappy goal, the second a powerplay goal courtesy of a good stretch pass. How many more chances did they create where you thought that was great play and we were lucky? I can’t remeber any. And I agree fans can do as they please at games, but I personally couldn’t bring myself to applaud them off the ice because of the club that they are.

"Wed 26 Dec CHERNOMAZ: WE HAVE TO TAKE THE POSITIVES OUT OF THE GAME TONIGHT" Panthers Radio - it sounds a bit repetitive! As for splitting 2 D men - we were on the penalty Kill and should have been able to mark one-man which should be the priority.

Compared to even five years ago it’s now as dull as dishwater. There are no characters left, the physicality isn’t half what it used to be,it’s all far too matey matey and there are hardly ever any simmering tensions during a game any more as if it could kick off any minute. Quite frankly,it’s now like watching a game of poor quality touch rugby played between a gang of mates who like each other. 🙄

I want to see passion. I don't. I don't expect to see NHL or even DEL standard, what I want to see is players who put in a shift. Too many of ours don't. Bring back a Bruce Richardson or a Kevin Bergin.

Every interview Cherno gives is the same,it’s dull and he just recounts what happened in the game period by period. Yes Rich......we know,we just watched it. We know how crap we were, but what went wrong and what are you going to do about it ? Oh and some passion would be nice. I’m beginning to think this guy isn’t what he was cracked up to be.

Nothing much to add other than it was an inevitable outcome after being given a glimmer of confidence after results at the weekend.
Boxing Day? Should be Groundhog Day!

The pre ISL days weren’t a high standard but at least there was excitement, passion and an air of not having a clue what one of the many on ice characters might do next. The ISL days were of a better standard but the excitement was still there. Early EIHL was a drop in standard from the ISL days but it was still ok and there were still great characters and scrappers - Payette, Cornish, Voth, Nieckar etc. Now it’s over sanitised and dull

Thought we were lucky to win that. The game itself had no quality to it at all, our passing was garbage and seemed to go to you or the boards.
Both our goals were lucky, a brain fart by a defenceman shoving McGrath into Garnett leaving him helpless & a defensive breakdown on the PK to give us a breakaway (which was a dubious penalty anyway).
We survived the OT PP and Whistle played exceptionally well throughout.
Penalties is a lottery.

It’s not just us Panthers who think it was a non event either,I’ve just had a look on Steeltalk and all the Steelers fans are saying it was awful, dull and boring too.

You work and battle very hard but you lack the quality you had even last season. Smith needs to rethink his decision not to have an enforcer as well because the sport and the EIHL will stop growing, the sport needs characters we’ve seen in recent seasons to generate interest and to attract new fans back.

What an awful game of hockey and I’d say the same if we had scraped the win. The ‘experts’ were spot on when they questioned the scoring competency of this team, apart from a few games when we turned it on, it’s been an uphill struggle and just dreadful to watch. It’s clear Rich has misjudged the league and recruited the wrong type of players, not on the scale of Thommo, but not far behind.
The atmosphere was so bad, both teams looks absolutely clueless, god knows what Rich has them working on. Anyway that’s me for a few weeks as I just can’t be bothered. The sad thing is normally I’d be seething after a game like that, but I felt very little, no anger, no frustration, just complete apathy... after 35 years watching ice hockey I’m now thinking what else can I do with my time... shame but this team won’t win a lot of fans with that style of play,
