I would love to have sauve back and sign sylvestre but who does sauve replace? Sauve was a insanely underrated player when he was with us.

Sylvestre & Aviani have found new teams. No confirmation of who as of yet.

On paper, Sauve is a straight swap improvement on Billingsley IMO, both two-way D-men with offensive capabilities and both indiscipled at times.
Whether you should make a trade just because you can is a different matter however.

If you compare Sauve against Lefties then he is still an upgrade on at least 2 of the imports we have playing that position. O.K one is Lepine and as captain I can't imagine him being gassed or left in the stands. Rissling generaly does a good job but if an upgrade is available with the quality of Sauve then you shouldn't pass on that opportunity. Ideally he could come in and add competition at the back, allowing injuries to be rested etc too. No need to gas anybody. I would be pretty miffed to find we had been offered Sauve and we chose not to take him.
It would be fantastic for Sylvestre to come in too. Time will yell.

We played short enough on Sunday to have Garnett and Munson dressed. I think we should try and bring in another defenceman, whether it's Sauve or someone else. It would ultimately mean Tetlow either gets little/no ice time though.

If we can’t sign Sylvestre then I think I think it would be a good move to try and sign Sauve. He already knows the club and a lot of the players in the team, he would add further depth and competition to our defence, we would get a solid two way defender with some extra punch on the powerplay.
For arguments sake we could have a defence along the lines of:
Olsen - Lee Sauve - Billingsley Rissling - Hughes Tetlow Lepine
That looks pretty stacked, you can rotate the import defenceman depending on form/injuries, the only downside as has already been mentioned is that Tetlow wouldn’t get the ice time that he’s been getting and he has come on leaps and bounds recently.

Mmmm and the fact we’ve been lucky so far and haven’t lost many Dman games to a lengthy injury either....yet ! There will be one just around the corner. 😩

Was I the only one who found Sauve very inconsistent & not 100% comitted to the cause?
I didn't see him after November, was he really that good?

For me the quality was there for all to see but he suffered massively from being relyied on to much. He was logging crazy minutes and that took it's toll at times. This years D is already an upgrade on last years so Id like to think he would get a much fairer workload this time around.

I agree, defensively we have upgraded this season, Yann would be a good addition.

Olsen's vision to find shot lanes is up there with the very best at EIHL level. Only Sandrock was superior from memory.

And there was me getting slated for saying Olsen is the best offensive d man in the league... silly me. Only been watching over 30 years I'd like to think I know a good d man from a poor one

Sylvestre fetches up in Kassel. No surprise, there was zero interest from Panthers as I mentioned the other day.
