SIGNING NEWS: CLAN ADD BRITISH FORWARD JACK MUSIL Published: 15 May 2018 Glasgow’s Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the signing of British forward Jack Musil for the 2018/19 season. The 24-year-old, who is originally from Beverley, Yorkshire, joins the Clan having spent the past two season’s at Endicott College of NCAA. Musil also played for the University of Maine between 2014 and 2016, which is the same university that current GB International Colin Shields played for. “I am delighted to add British forward Jack Musil to our roster for the season ahead” commented Clan head coach Pete Russell. “Jack is a big body, smooth skater, good skills and has a strong hockey IQ. He is very patient on the puck and brings others into the game. Jack has bags of talent and a strong work ethic. “During the past 8 years, Jack has developed on and off the ice in North America. After finishing his NCAA career he is now ready to move into starting his professional career. “He can beat you in so many ways with a variety of creative moves at different speeds. He is a very clever player. “Jack is a player who’s situation I have been monitoring for a while after having him on the Great Britain u20’s National Team a few years back. He made a really positive impression on me.” Musil becomes the eighth player to sign for the Clan for 2018/19, following the signings of Zack Fitzgerald, Scott Pitt, Michal Gutwald, Gerard Hanson, Craig Peacock, Matt Haywood and Zach Sullivan. www.eliteleague.co.uk/view/eliteicehockey/latest-news/news_503439

STEELERS SIGN YOUNG DEFENCEMAN GRIFFIN eliteleague.co.uk/view/eliteicehockey/latest-news/news_503662Sheffield Steelers have signed 16-year-old defenceman Jordan Griffin to their apprentice programme. The Bradford born blue liner featured in the NIHL last season for both his home town Bulldogs and Deeside Dragons, as well as captaining the Bradford under 18 side. Griffin also represented Team GB at the IIHF Under 18 World Championships (Division 2A), helping the national side secure gold and promotion to the next tier. “The Steelers are committed to the apprentice programme and bringing through the best young British talent that we can.” Steelers Head Coach Paul Thompson said. “We have all seen the progress of Liam Kirk and the opportunities that are ahead for him this summer. “Jordan trained with us several times last year and I was impressed with how he improved every time we saw him. He took in the information that we were giving him and we liked his desire to get better.” Griffin will join Kieran Brown and Cole Shudra as apprentices at the South Yorkshire side next season, with young starlet Liam Kirk set to move to North America following a breakout campaign which him gain NHL interest ahead of this summer’s draft. “Jordan is a big kid for his age,” Thompson continued “and the fact that he was a defenceman was a big factor for us as we wanted to bring into our apprentice programme someone in this position. “He will practice with us every day and also play a part in our preseason exhibition games. We will then take a look at the best place for him to play because game minutes are vital for his development."
