Countless cups, playoff glory, a league championship, successful European campaigns & deservedly has his number retired. Corey Neilson IS a Panthers legend however after such consistent domestic struggles in the league, todays announcement is the logical outcome to his tenure.

Good News. Not going to change in that sense now what I wanted has happened.
What I like most is that they've announced it now(Although I think it's to try settle some of the unrest). Im sure most will agree, regardless of what has been said of late regarding wanting him gone he is a Panthers legend. It's never been personal and always been about performances. He now hopefully gets the send off he deserves. I've been pretty harsh on him for some years now, but I will certainly be chanting his name on our last home game.

100% the right decision for all parties.
Unfortunately it's about 2 seasons too many for him but for me his legacy will still be a positive one. I wish him the very best, from my own encounters with him he is a throughly nice bloke and the way he stayed with the team during the CHL campaign whilst he had his personal issues will stay long in my memory.
He has brought us some brilliant moments(as well as the lows) and he will stay a Panthers legend in my eyes. Hopefully this will free up the team a little for the remainder of the season.
I honestly think our Brits will now have a new lease of life under a new coach, for many of them Corey is the only coach they've worked with.
I'd love either Adey or G Adams next but I fear we may have Clarke. Whoever it is though I will fully support.
Thanks for the years of service Corey.

It’s time. Fingers crossed now that we get a really good replacement and not DC cutting his teeth.

Regardless of this season. Corey has been a great servant to the club both as a player and coach. Hes brought in loads of silverware and gernerally entertaining hockey.
Its is a shame hes leaving on the back end of a big downward spiral. But this is the right desicion.
Good luck Corey.

Corey Neilson IS a Panthers legend however after such consistent domestic struggles in the league, todays announcement is the logical outcome to his tenure. I’ve never subscribed to the statements that he’s a “poor coach” because how do you quantify a coach; trophies? Well he’s won a shed load of them with Panthers, but obviously that hasn’t translated into league titles & I think that’s where folks will always scrutinise, rightly or wrongly. I posted previously that a coach can be at a team for too long & I think it’s applicable with Neilson; he’s taken his team as far as he can IMO. Hopefully the club don’t go for an option that’s comfortable coaching wise...

I agree, one hell of a Panthers legend.
If we get Clarke we will just be in the same boat, Clarke will be used to Corey's systems!
This line interests me: "It is hoped and anticipated that an announcement on a fresh face in charge will be made at the end of the current season."
Neil will be aware of the fan's frustration this season and I expect big changes, announcing this was the right time and getting in a NEW coach before any season ticket sales will stir things up nicely.

Judging by the length (and depth) of the speech on the official site, this must have been decided a while back. you don't put that kind of speech together in an 'off the cuff' interview with Dan Green. Agree that he's taken the job as far as he can, the new coach MUST set out their requirements and we must not settle for second best.

Now we will see who comes in and if they can work with GM & NB Clarkie knows what they are like so hopefully he has a good hard think about things if offered the job cos its a thankless task. if we win nothing you know which level the problem is.

The correct decision for me, something had to change and that position was always the most likely.
Credit to the club for announcing this early, will remove quite a lot of the growing negativity from the crowd knowing change is afoot, and allows us to focus on all the good that Corey accomplished in his decade-plus at the club, rather than our current travails.
I wanted him gone and have said so many times, so I'm not going to pretend otherwise now, but I do hope he gets a good send off from us (which he will), and I wish him and his family the best for their future.
Will be very strange to see a Corey-less Panthers, but I will now be there to see it.

Thank you Corey. 2-3 seasons too long.
We need a top class proven euro or north American coach.
Black spend the money and back the new coach.
Moran next please
Let’s start a new dynasty and dominate the next 10 years.

That has made my day! I wasn't going to come to any matches after Cardiff to show that changes are needed woooo now lets get someone with experience, heart, a plan B and a plan C Shame in one way they are not bringing in now as it would have been good to see the players under a different coach to see who to keep, as I am sure it is Neilson's system that has made them under perform then we could have perhaps kept a few, otherwise the new coach will need a major clear out! I suppose it is good that the he has time to say goodbye tho.
Not Clarke please

You forget a new coach still has to report into GM & NB will be very interesting to see who applies this time round. Can see the cheaper option to be honest but hope David tells them to stuff it. We need a change higher up the ladder for anything to change at this club.

I think this is the right decision although I’ve always wondered how good a coach Corey could be at a well run club where players want to play.
When you hear the restrictions Corey has to work under because of Black and GM, it’s no wonder we often struggle.
As I say, the right decision, but I’d have swapped this in a heartbeat for an announcement that GM had left or Black was selling up.

I see Chris McSorley is now working as 'Sports Manager' at Geneve-Servette. Not Head Coach, or GM or even Director of Hockey Operations.

YESSSSSSS ! 😀 Best news out of Panthers for years and about time too, this club has been treading water and living on past glories for far too long. Spend some money Mr Black, don't go for the easy/cheap option and go get a coach who isn't afraid to ruffle some feathers too.
Moran next out the door please !!!!

this is not going to change the results of this season but it really is about time. Best part of 5 years corey was still making what many perceive as rookie coach mistakes (some would say he still is) and hasnt really made substantial challenges for the league title so as much as i enjoyed the cup wins dont let the door hit you on the way out... As for clarky as coach god help us but in all probability given panthers preclude for spending money i cant really see any other choice and certainly not one that is likely to make the league sit up and think wow, which in all likelihood means my money will be safely in my pocket for another season..

Good luck to Neilson wherever he ends up. Time for change for all involved parties. Hope we bring in someone with a bit of experience but I won't hold my breath. Cheap and a yes man seem to be the major requirements. Sack Moran and things might look a little better.

Hopefully this hasn't been announced this week to deflect from the fact that we are still playing an import d-man down.

A case of the "Cloughies"? Brian Clough is regarded as a bona fide legend at Forest and in UK football, but he finished his time with Forest getting relegated.
For what Neilson has achieved, he should be thought of in the same light throughout the Panthers and UK hockey.
Thanks Corey for providing us with some incredible moments and plenty of silverware.

As much as I thought his time was up I can’t get too excited because now the search for his successor begins. I say search in the hope they don’t just give it to Clarke. That said, who trusts Moran or Black to get the appointment right?
