Rumours on Steeltalk that Shalla is on his way to Sheffield to cover for Armstrong who may be out for the rest of the season, following ligament damage to his finger caused during a fight on the 27th...
Knowing our luck he will rip it up there!

He will do because he's a decent player

I don’t see how he fits? Armstrong is a centre and a very reliable one that wins face offs, Shalla is none of that.
It will be interesting to see what happens though.

He looks more than capable of being a hit for us looking at his stats

He will be at Sheffield in time for the Continental Cup, and win it for them

Eric Neiley apparently heading to Europe... Teammate of his, Chris Calnan is also on the way to Europe. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=178940Neiley is the better player on paper, but Calnan wouldn't become captain of Boston University if he didn't have something about him, got some interesting family connections too! At this point in the season I don't think we'll be getting a sniper. Can see us going with an energy, drive the net, type forward.

Neiley has signed in Sheffield Thats better than Shalla. Although Shalla didnt work out for us he is a good player and would probably do well for a rival.

Funny how quick Steelers can get a decent replacement in isn’t it...
But yeah, it’s actually impossible around Christmas and New Year to find anyone.

Not sure I'd want Neiley... team-leading 55 PIMs in that league so far this season... would fit in perfectly with Tosspot Thommo's style, but not sure he's what we would want.

I’m assuming he will be another agitator to add to their list, I wish Farmer would bring a bit more of that back into his game, it’s puts the opposition off their game I feel. If we ending up signing Bill Thomas as has been rumoured than I will be glad that we didn’t sign this player.

If he was talking to a number of EIHL clubs then it could be the case that we were just driving the price up.
I don't really know how the signing process works but if the player makes it known to clubs that offers(from the same league) are on the table then the wages will naturally escalate.
At this point I'm not at all concerned about missing out on him as long as we sign a better quality player within the next few days and get them in before next weekend. .

"Recruitment work as it has been for SEVERAL WEEKS continues" So that rather knackers that argument.

If we'd have signed this guy you'd all be up in arms about how he's a downgrade on Shalla and a 'cheap option'.
I dont agree with Panthers all the time but sometimes they cant win.

I don’t think Neilly would be classed as cheap, probably similar to Shalla in mid range. But we need much better than him. We need some quality up front,a Kolnik/Heerema/Ling type who leads, scores and creates goals.

From the article in the Post it sounded like Corey’s top two prospects got snapped up elsewhere.

Read the article, Thommo has been looking since way before the injury, it just came at the right time. Exactly. Point proven, one team wants to win the the league and the other wants to milk fans (as Brock said). One coach consistently looks to improve while the other gets teary eyed at the prospect at losing someone. Wonder why one coach wins more than the other...
