I'd take Ratchuk my Steelers supporting family liked him and they did see him for 30 odd games not 8! I think you're getting him mixed up with Coyle.. he was gash! Why are Sheffield letting him go then Pidge, that's the question that you have to ask ? One minute last year Thompson is telling the world Ratchuk can do things nobody else in this league can and then he's letting him go. Ratchuk was apologising not long ago for letting people down or something. There's a reason why Steelers have released him and something doesn't add up ! You have to take into account that Sheffield have brought a lot of players back already so maybe they want to freshen up the squad with the rest of their signings. Also their defence was widely regarded as poor last year, they've already brought back O'Conner (whom Ratchuk is extremely similar too), Fitzgerald & Phillips, why wouldn't they cut bait with the rest? Doesn't mean those individuals they don't bring back are bad (they could be, but doesn't mean they are), they just didn't work together. Not everything's a conspiracy.

If all you have is stay at home guys with a good outlet pass you become instantly predictable, which then leads to constant dump and chase. Whereas if you have someone with an X factor who can carry the puck into the offensive zone like Ratchuk it gives you another option much like Fox//Werner did for us in the grand slam season (for me Weaver was more a puck mover who'd get the puck into the zone through good passes rather than skating with it, could be wrong but that's what I remember). Spang does this well. His skating is pretty good, speed on the puck is one of the main factors. Apart from his flair for the theatrical I see a lot of similarities between Spang & Werner, both excellent skaters who can match up man to man with the oppositions best skating forward along with being able to carry the puck. Now as much as I rate Spang he's not an X factor type player (maybe given less minutes and a more defined role he could be which would then make this mute) like Fox was that Ratchuk could potentially be.

He was paired with O Connor!! Both offensive. Ratchuk would be quality alongside a defensive d man like Spang although he's more 2 way

Although he ended up being a bust Flyers fans thought they had drafted a stud at the time. I would take Ratchuk here. Undoubtedly quality and has unfinished business with the league. Has a point to prove to the orange lot too.
Limit his D-zone starts, bump up his minutes on PP1. As others have said, a dynamic and creative defenseman is something every team should have.

Dundee are going to try and avoid signing players with immediate family (Girlfriends, Wifes, Newborns) in order to save costs on flights and housing. They will also likely start the season short of the 14 import limit. Their ST prices have also gone up by over £100.

Good money.

Coventry having a serious clear out, wonder if its the players decisions or the Blaze, at least they are keeping everyone informed, I'm not too worried about our timescale for signings it'll happen when it happens but would have been nice to know who's not coming back.

They'll both do well in France but I'm glad to see the back of both to be honest!
