So assuming Robert Farmer gets banned, what happens to his roster slot. IF we had a full roster and spare Brits (I know LOL) would we have to play a Brit short ?
I don't think I can ever remember a Brit getting banned before or seeing any cap on number of Bits who can ice.

I doubt the Elite League have thought it through that far.
I'd assume that if we could somehow still ice 22 players, we'd only be able to ice 21 of them.

I can't remember which Brit it was but Panthers have had one banned before and there wasn't a requirement to 'play short'. When imports are banned it is their 'slot' in the 20+2 allowed on the bench which is blocked from being used. As Brits aren't limited there is no requirement to play short.

You can replace a banned Brit with another Brit.
If an import is banned however you have to play an import short.

Because I've never seen any limit to number of Brits, other than a bench of 22 players in total. So if there is no official Brit limit, how can you be expected to sit a slot. Not that it matters in Panthers case,we haven't got enough players anyway !

Surely there's a de facto limit of 8 Brits, if you're icing 14 imports? So you'd have to restrict to 7 Brits max if one was banned?
Not of course that this is anymore than theory, given we only have 6 of them.

Good job the next five games aren't important. 5 games is less than I was expecting tbh.

It's a shame as he's been a real bright spark this season, but can't argue with it.

Yep can't argue with that. That Justin Fox ban at Fife has got to be reduced on appeal now though, because Farmers was far worse yet they both got 5 games.

as much as i agree with the 5 games it is hardly consistent with the other bans especially ones handed out last season.. cough... cardiff... cough... (and does not take into consideration the mitigating circumstances i.e. the cheating git rutherford)
Given that our own so called coach CN has said he deserves it i guess there wont be an appeal...

It's not a "mitigating circumstance". It's the provokation, but it doesn't in anyway diminish his actions. Also and appeal would be silly. Nothing to play for until the play-offs and they could increase the ban and miss PO quarter finals.

Fair play to the Panthers for their response, taking it on the chin.
Like Rutherford (too soon?).
Lesson learnt for Rob. Lets him have a rest in time for the playoffs, hopefully he can be at his best.

Lets him have a rest in time for the playoffs, hopefully he can be at his best. Main problem being the disruption of lines heading into the playoffs. Now's the time to get them all clicking so the chemistry is there for playoff QF. Oh wait!!...

DOPS ANNOUNCE RESULT OF FOX APPEAL on: March 02, 2017 In: Dops, EIHL latest news, Elite Teams, Fife Flyers, Latest News The Elite League Department of Player Safety has released the result of the appeal lodged by the Fife Flyers following the suspension of their player, Justin Fox. The Department of Player Safety’s Appeals Panel upheld the original Match penalty for High-Sticking assessed on Fox during the game between Dundee Stars and Fife Flyers on Sunday 19th February 2017. This penalty carried an automatic one game ban, which could not be appealed. Fox served this ban on Saturday 25th February when Fife Flyers played Sheffield Steelers. Fox was also assessed an additional four game ban following a review of the incident by the Department of Player Safety. Fife appealed this decision, and upon review the Appeals Panel has reduced the supplementary discipline Fox received from four games to one. Fox will miss the following game: 4th March 2017 – Fife Flyers vs Edinburgh Capitals

5 games is sadly about right Nothing sad about it, completely warranted 5 games for Farmer yes quite right......but 5 games for Fox was way too much. The two incidents were not even close to the same thing.
