Was probably us, I heard a rumour that after our barren season that we shopping for a new coach but nobody would come due to GM.. Corey was then subsequently given a one year deal, but after a long period of uncertainty. Not sure if this entirely true, but it was certainly being discussed.
It did make me wonder about GM as it now feels Clarke is being lined up to take over from Corey at some point.

It was Steeler. but I just wanted to see if this guy was feeding me a yarn if you know what I mean.
I for one wanted Weber at the the Panther, given him a 4 year deal and made this club the top club in the EIHL
Given that CN wanted the job and he delivered 2 trophies I think it was a forgone conclusion that CN would get the job

Weber got found out second season though. 8th place finish proves the pedigree as a coach means nothing!

Corey's 2yr deal takes him to a point where the youngest child either leaves school or goes to hockey school abroad then he can please himself where he goes. It's worrying to think that no one applied for his role 2 seasons ago hence a late announcement he was staying and he was as gobsmacked as us, which makes you wonder if Clarkie will take the reins with Rick or someone else if CN decides to leave. At least he knows what he's letting himself in for .

It will obviously be Clarke. As soon as he was announced as assistant the path (of least resistance) was clear.

It would've been interesting to see how he'd fared if he'd had Sheffield's money to spend (or ours), rather than Coventry's. I was expecting more from them I must say, although they are currently holding the rest of us up so maybe their issues are deeper than any coach can correct.

Weber's first season (from Dec 1st) won the playoff and got to the final of the the playoff in 2nd season by knocking league winners and in the quarters and thumping Cardiff in the semi's.
Do you think CN would have done better than Weber with the Coventry organisation?
