Sam Oakford back with Panthers as 7th D by the sounds of it. Story
Statshappy to have him back, feel he was our most consistent Brit last season and played good minutes. would like to see him keep pushing his game and breaking a top 6 role in the coming seasons.

I like Oakford and the fact he is willing to challenge for his ice time. Probably our most consistent Brit d man last year. I think he'll get a lot of minutes again because he'll deserve then

Disappointed that Oakford will be going back to the 7th D-Man. He was hands down better than Lee and Swindlehurst las season, he's growing very well and knows he's got to fight for his job so i don't understand why he isn't going to be used more. He's solid and very vocal, aware of his surroundings and making sure his partner is too.
Glad to have him back though, same with Greener.

Cheap option in signing greener again.
we need to invest in a young hungry backup not keep peddling greener out.

Good news, both signings make sense.
1 more Brit needed for 13,7,2.

Oakford being a 7th D means we must be going with 5 import D right?

Both signings are good news to my mind, hope Oakford gets more time on the ice though and I'd quite like to see Greeners victory celebration again. Plus I do like a good rendition of viva Dan Greener.

I find it hard to find someone with as much lack of ambition as Green. He should have had a no1 spot in the epl for years but is quite happy opening the door and 'analysing' on checking it out !

Greener is one of the best backups currently, we know why we're getting, he knows his role and comes cheaper so budget can be spent on other roles that could boost our chance at success. If we spent more on a backup you would more than be moaning were paying them too much and wasting budget..

Import Lee Oakford This is good news. I'd be interested to know which team was the last to win the league with less than 5 import D.

Every backup in the world of hockey knows their role not just Green so that argument is complete rubbish. How would we know we are paying a backup too much money? none of us know how much any player gets paid. For the record I have never moaned about how much we pay any player and never will because I, along with nearly every other fan have no idea at all about that

As long as he doesn't get on the ice ever this season I am happy to have re-signed him..
Oakford should be relatively cheap and hungry to prove himself and this season I hope he does as imho our number 1 brit d man is definitely declining the last couple of seasons..

I tend to agree though that the spot might be more usefully employed on a younger backup, to learn from Wiikman or whoever we have as #1 at the time. Green hasn't really got anywhere to go. But saying that, he does a job for us that's probably better than a younger player, and likelihood is we'll be calling on him for a few games at some point.

Very difficult to hang on to a hungry, young and ambitious player so keeping the old stalwart might be the safer option? Only might be of course. Just my slant on the subject.

He was hands down better than Lee and Swindlehurst las season Really? Hands down better than Steve Lee? Sure Oakford made less mistakes but he brings no where near the same offensive threat as Lee.

As a defenceman, yes. Lee has better offensive aspects to his game but his defensive side is garbage. Turnovers galore, always tries to do a blind backhand pass behind the net and if the opposing forwards are alert and quick enough they'll easily intercept and get a goalscoring opportunity because Lee just doesn't appear to have much awareness and little confidence to go with it. Needs to be more physical and use his shot more, one of the hardest shots on the team and he must only use it about 10 times a year.

Panthers 2012-13 with four import D.......Lepine,Beckett,Werner and Fox. And just look what happens when you sign quality. We did also have Weaver though, which was massive !
