It would have been morally wrong if Edmonton had got the first pick overall again. If a team can't sort itself out after gaining so much talent, then they deserve to suck for eternity. Good luck with Toronto's latest high pick though Sure, the Leafs recent draft positions are comparable with the Oilers...

Sure, the Leafs recent draft positions are comparable with the Oilers... You certainly can't complain! Who's complaining? Toronto, in the last three seasons, will have drafted three exceptionally good players, one of whom has potential to be generational; Matthews, Marner & Nylander but the team's draft positions do not on any level compare with Edmonton. Anyone who argues against this is a complete fool.

Outside of them, Toronto have done pretty well out of the draft themselves!

Well, no, not quite to Edmonton's abysmal level, but your first rounders over the last number of years have been 1, 4, 8, 21, 5, 22, 7 and 5, that doesn't count the 2 and 9 picks you traded for Kessel too! Edmonton are obviously the worst but your comment about "If a team can't sort itself out after gaining so much talent, then they deserve to suck for eternity" makes me think of glass houses and stones. The Leafs have had a crazy amount through the draft but still sit as the worst team in hockey. Can't see that continuing though. Marner, Nylander, Reilly, Matthews and potentially Stamkos too? All you need is a goalie.

The main difference between the two organisations is the Leafs have hired people that clearly know what they want to do with the direction of the team; this team will be über competitive in a few seasons and the haters will be in turmoil. Edmonton have had elite picks, Toronto hasn't but as I said, I'm not complaining with our picks. Well save for the selections of Gauthier & Biggs, who quite frankly reek of Burke's ridiculous "truculence" ideology.
Marner looks an f'ing fantastic pick at 4th...

Aye, you could have had Provorov but i'm not sure Marner is a bad consolation

Not sure what they'll do goalie wise; I don't think Bernier is as bad as he was this season and they're committed to him for next year. He won't be as bad this coming season that's for sure. I think he's an above average NHL goalie in all honesty but after him, there's not a lot.
Sparks isn't a starter & Bibeau, not sure yet...
But Provorov looks a good prospect for your lot.

On the playoffs.. Will be ecstatic if the Penguins lose tonight. Hoping St Louis find a way past San Jose also but less confident of that happening.
In a Bolts vs Sharks final I pull for the Bolts every time.

This season's SC finals should be very good to watch as a neutral. Not a fan of Pittsburgh but kinda' hoping they do it just so Kessel can stick it to the haters.
