Been meaning to ask for some time, any forums members into paintball on any level? Be it a twice a year recreational player or full blown tournament player or someone who has never tried, I'd like to hear from you and I'll answer most questions however silly they may seem.
I was a marshal for a paintball company for around ten years but my interest waned and I stopped playing all together. Recently went with my 10year old nephew (I can recommend it, it's hilarious, but get your own nephew) and it reignited my passion for the game. In short I'm after a few people of any experience that fancies giving it a go, got my sights set on the Delta Force site in Kegworth for some time in the summer.
Not expecting any replies here but it was worth a go. Take it easy all.

Absolutely loved it, except the lovely shot in the throat I got off my then maths teacher haha. Prefer airsoft myself but would love to play again, bit far from Nottinghamshire though haha

Remember kids, the velocity of those markers (guns) can be turned up quite high if the marshal isn't paying attention lol. If you were to make the trip this far south for a game, you'd be much better served going to one of the big annual events like North vs South or Paintfest. The former takes place in the abandoned Cosford airfields and surrounding area and the latter, I think, is in Bassets Pole. Both feature around 400 players, take place over a few days, are almost always a hell of a lot of fun and definitely more worthwhile taking a trip from all the way up there for. Ive not had the chance to play airsoft, I know there's a load of beef between paintballers and airsoft guys but I've always just ignored it, I don't go to play games for beef lol. Would love to have a go though and it's considerably cheaper (if you're renting that is) than paintball too. Reckon I'll look into it, any advice for a noob?

Haha, yeah, it was a brilliant day man, throat fair stung though haha. Doesn't help that my maths teacher was ex-Army either! Hahah. I'll have a look into those events though, would genuinely love to go to something like that some day. Guess I have some saving to do. I've never really paid attention to the friction either tbh, I loved playing both and really that's all I'm there for. Just prefer airsoft because of the slightly more realistic feel, a in with the weapons. Best idea is just to find a game near you one weekend, turn up with a pair of boots, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, a jumper and a hat. Sites, or at least in Fife anyway, give you eye protection, clothing if you want it, plenty bb's and a very decent weapon. Should cost maybe 50 quid with the full rentals etc, it's brilliant and if you enjoy paintbal you will probably enjoy it. You can pick up a decent starter weapon for just under £100 aswell!

An ex army maths teacher? Jesus, sounds hellish but here's a tip, first time ex-forces folk always forget they're not firing a gun with actual recoil and thusly they will always, without fail, stick the elbow of their firing arm out at 45degrees to their body allowing you to shoot them in the elbow as it comes out of cover before their gun does, all day long After having a short peruse of the available airsoft guns, I notice the colour options first of all, those hi-vis models would get you laughed off the nearest airsoft field I imagine so before I think about buying one for myself I'd better go and actually try some as I read about the UK laws that govern the usage of 'replica' coloured ones and you need to be a regular player to be able to purchase one. There's also the plethora of propellant options, gas, spring or electric, which is worth looking into a bit further too. After a short browse, I'm already feeling a bit of a bug for it so cheers for suggesting it. I don't suppose you'd know of any manufacturers I could check out do you? The only one I know of is possibly the most famous - Tokyo Marui and frankly I've seen their prices... Lol.
