I have a feeling that the Clan are going to bottle it again. They may well do, but that doesn't make our schedule any easier.

I am sure there will be some posturing to save face but at the end of the day in this league £££ talks every time. And how much do you think holding the second leg is worth over the first? If fans have to choose between a game that will be undecided at the end or a decider game the following day which one do you think they'd rather spend their money on? Remember, the CC games are midweek (awkward for childcare etc), not on the Season Ticket (so people are more likely to consider the value of attending) and crammed in a period of congestion (a factor for non-ST holders regarding costs). Also, how much do you think a potential final is worth to the Panthers? I think a lot of Panthers fans would go Sheffield for a start. I don't think we have ever played at Ice Sheffield?

But if we're talking money (the point you raised) then a decider game (2nd leg) is the bigger draw for the Panthers, hence why it'd be in GM the GMs interest to stick by his guns and push for the 2nd leg at home. Why would he be concerned about Sheffield's profits?

They did that last year and Sheffield came and beat us in the 2nd. And? If, as many suggest, Gary Moran is about the money, then a 2nd leg is a bigger draw and therefore a bigger money spinner. Also, given the fixture congestion and potential budgetry concerns as a result, which is more likely to draw Panthers fans to the NIC, a 1st Leg or 2nd?

Good win. I thought it was the final next, 2 legs from the quarters = milking it the cup needs a new format ASAP.

You've got to love Wiikman's reaction to the 3rd goal. The guy doesn't just come to play, he comes to win.

Apologies for my ignorance but, what was the issue with that? Panthers Hockey Live tweeted that Corey pointed it out at face off, was it just deemed a tad insulting or is there a technical/game rule issue with it that I don't know about?

It's a new game, it starts 0-0. Who decided it would start 1-0? Who makes the rule? I've never heard of this before. Has this happened ever before? If the fans are confused by an aggregate score they are going to be mind blown at a game starting 1-0.

Finnerty did the same whilst coaching steelers. in that one I think they'd lost 4-2 to Dundee so he had the scoreboard set to 0-2. iirc, that was at ice Sheffield, and during the warm up they were shooting pucks down the ice towards the stars nettie to intimidate them .. and I believe it worked. Im sure Mozzy will remember that better than me.

David Simms Retweeted STEELERS OFFICIAL @steelershockey 31m31 minutes ago Lots of tweets overnight relating to the semi final Vs @panthersihc being played at @ice_sheffield - we have tried everything to play this Game at the @sheffieldarena but it is impossible. Our opponents have made it impossible for us on this occasion. The reason we are at Ice Sheffield isn't the fault of the Arena, the Steelers or Ice Sheffield. It's down to our opponents and their obstructiveness. David Simms @simmsey 24m24 minutes ago When i stood on the ice all those years ago and said what i said. I think I was right after all. Phil Cooper cooperphil156 @simmsey Classless! Oh so sorry we got through, he's a walking clogged artery. Stuff him he can cry into his pork pie for all i care.

His original comments were when he was a pundit on Skysports, probably made in jest, but totally inappropriate. In this post he is effectively repeating the accusation of those "ba------" down the M1, but this is really meant. He is an official and mouthpiece of a club and a league board member. It reflects really badly on the sport, the league management and a club. How can ice hockey administratively be treated seriously when this sort of behaviour happens?

Simmsey is like the Monica lewinski of the elite league. Too much dirt on the powers that be to get rid of him.
