I see that Eric Werner is back for CN testimonial, anyone else you'd like to see stick around for a bit? I'd certainly snap Werner up in a heart beat! All hypothetical of course.

To be honest I'd settle for a short term £300 a week Euro at the moment.....oh wait, profits might not quite run to that !

I'd love Werner back. One of the best import d-men I've seen in a Panthers jersey during the Slam season.

Just having Werner to QB the power play would be progress at the moment.
Interesting fact for you all - Every time our all Brit line goes on the ice for the power play God drowns a kitten.
That's true you know.

I honestly believe Werner could fill a gap for us, at least short term. He has natural offensive instinct, he won't have lost that.

We need a defenceman (or two) with natural defensive instinct and a strong presence in their own zone not an offensive D-man. Especially not one who hasn't played for a couple of seasons.

I disagree in part, although we do need a defensive d man. We also definitely need offence on the D side of things, who do we have on the current roster on defence that is a genuine threat offensively?

Pretty much Nate yes,not exactly but a pretty good idea of it. Believe me,you can get a Euro for £300 a week, that's why Edinburgh had a whole team of them for years and EPL teams sign lots of them, because they're cheap. I'm not saying he would be quality, but it's better than playing with two import D.
Look at say the Caps crowds,800 per game if they're lucky ? At an average of say £12 a ticket that gives them less than £10k a week to pay 16 or 17 players, plus all other costs. How do they do that even with league handouts if they were paying anything like decent money ?

We need an offensive Dman that can quarterback the pp,not a defensive Dman,we have five of those already. The only one close to being able to do it is Waugh and he's out for ages.
Neilson and Weaver used to do it,but we have not had a good one since.

Wouldn't it be great if a Weaver moved back just till Christmas....oh I can dream, I could even arrange for him to wear his old grand slam winning jersey.

Neilson and Weaver used to do it,but we have not had a good one since. Personally I think we need both. A big factor in losing both games this weekend was poor defensive coverage and constant turnovers in our own end. There was no defensive stability or strength on display. I'd say that is the more pressing concern. But we definitely need somebody to QB the powerplay. I thought from reports on signing that Dimmen would play that role but doesn't look like it at the moment.

Last season he did well and put up points?
Just an observation is all.

Ive seen plenty of Mosey yes,I love the guy but he isn't a pp quarterback though, not a heavy shot or a great passer.
As for Weaver,at his age as a Dman in normal play,no he wouldn't be as good as Waugh or Dimmen now,but I bet he could still run our pp better than them.

Even Corey admitted he'd sign Werner to add to this team!
