I was not confident the Hawks would win game 1, they seem to like coming back into a series but they pulled it out the bag! Their depth could be the key in this series, the Bolts are really good but their bottom 6 ain't producing like they need to.

2-2 after last night's Chicago victory. Game 5 on Saturday night.
Meanwhile the most tiresome saga in the history of mankind looks set to go another round, City of Glendale voting to end the deal they signed with the Dogs, the Dogs now suing them. Quebec or Seattle?

Hawks go 3-2 in the series, what a nightmare mistake for Ben Bishop, comes way out to intercept the puck collides with a team mate and Sharpe says thank you very mush a puts the puck in the net, at that moment all I could think about is "all your fault" and Stewart the Coventry Keeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Draft day, Oil pick McDavid first, no surprise.
And Sabres take Eichel. That's the obvious stuff out the way. Here's Donny to balls up somehow.

Some thought Donny would've been tempted by the 3 for 1 deal to move you up to 3, glad he avoided it. Happy with Strome.

Could we do a Brits only draft in the future, something that would drive players to high standards don't you think, if we involved EPL and Elite leagues

No's 1&2 in this years draft are real quality players and they have gone to Edmonton they finished 28th out of 30 and Buffalo last in the league
The Idea is getting them in the Elite league team early to make a difference and then if they make the grade play for GB

The point of the NHL draft (as it is now) is largely to reward failure..I mean assist those teams at the bottom to compete. If such teams had any significant 'development ability' they wouldn't be languishing season after season at the bottom!!
If you were trying to develop a draft system which had the players/national team at heart you'd want the highest draft picks to go to the teams with the best chance of assisting their development, which isn't desperate teams who'll raid their cupboard for anything they can throw into the fight.
Indeed, if you want to follow the NHL system/examples, then the best teams for developing players are those where the such players can be 'hot boxed' within a system without needing to put up serious TOI requirements with the first team.

These 1& 2 draft picks should get quite a bit of ice time with Edmonton & Buffalo, if they had gone to Hawks or Rangers would get a lot less ice time don't you think.

These 1& 2 draft picks should get quite a bit of ice time with Edmonton & Buffalo, if they had gone to Hawks or Rangers would get a lot less ice time don't you think. It's not all about NHL ice time, it's also about allowing players to develop. If they're thrown in the deep end at poor teams, whose fan bases will be expecting great things because of their high drafting position, they may not be able to develop at a pace suitable for their personal development. Just to make this clear, I'm discussing this in relation to what is good for the national team/player (as brought up earlier in the thread), not what is solely good for the NHL team.

To add though, I have a problem with the entire NHL draft process/selection. I throughly disagree with the principle of allowing those at the bottom to get first picks because, as has been plainly evident for years, it encourages many teams to give up if they have a poor run at the start of seasons and try to tank for the highest picks.
Even the recent changes haven't made much of a difference, we've still had pitiful displays of teams trying to 'out tank' each other in a race for the bottom which, in any sport, should be positively discouraged.
How would I discourage it? Reward effort rather than lack of. Give the highest picks to the teams finishing just out of the play offs and work down. Those teams made an effort but have just missed out, they should be the ones 'rewarded'. This may also encourage poor teams to start investing in their development system too, instead of relying on tanking (whilst providing a poor product to their fans) and relying on the crapshoot of the NHL Draft to gift them the next 'Great One'.
