Not happy with that performance at all. Plenty of passion, but that's about it. Second to the puck most of the time, terrible passing, poor shooting... and a totally stupid penalty by David Philips to give them the GWG. So many players on this GB 'team' that we know CAN do the job, but just aren't doing so now. Game 2 today (2:30 UK time) GB vs Netherlands is now all-important. Wow ....hope your free days off were a tad better. All good out in Lithuania?

Out of interest what is the qualifying criteria for imports to be allowed to play for GB?
Which current imports would be potentially be available for selection?

IIHF Eligibility To play in the IIHF World Championship, the Olympic ice hockey tournament and the qualifications to these competitions, players must fulfill the following qualification requirements: - Each player must be under the jurisdiction of an IIHF member national association. - Each player must be a citizen of the country he represents. Acquiring a new national eligibility (The ‘two-year’ case) When a player has changed his citizenship or has acquired another citizenship and wants to participate for the first time in an IIHF competition representing his new country he must: - Prove that he has participated for at least two consecutive years in the national competitions of his new country during which period he has neither transferred to another country nor played ice hockey within any other country. - Have an international transfer card (ITC) that shows the transfer to the national association of his new country and which was approved and dated at least two years before the start of the IIHF competition in which he wishes to participate. Change of national eligibility (The ‘four-year’ case) A player, who has previously participated in IIHF competition, can switch national eligibility (but only once in a player's life) if: - He is a citizen of the new country of his choice - He has participated for at least four consecutive years in the national competitions of his new country, during which period he has neither transferred to another country nor played ice hockey within any other country and has not played for his previous country in an IIHF competition during this four year period. - He has an international transfer card (ITC) that shows the transfer to the national association of his new country and which was approved and dated at least four years before the start of the IIHF competition in which he wishes to participate. Least we'll not be relegated then, assuming Lithuania beat Romania tonight it's a straight shootout between the Dutch and Romanians for the wooden spoon on Saturday.
Poland might ease up given they've confirmed promotion already, not that the game matters now for us either.

So does anyone know which imports who have confirmed returns for next season would be eligible for GB?
Kowalski? Saurette? Keefe? Faulkner?

First step would be them getting a dual passport like Corey did, not heard that any have. I remember reading last season that Kowalski had been here long enough to qualify now though.

Have they the parentage/family connections to get a passport? Otherwise its giving up their original country for life here I assume?
Imagine we beat Poland tomorrow. What an up and down tournament it would have been. Congratulations to Ashley Tait IF he plays as this would be his 102nd game for GB and a record in history as the most appearances all-time.Passing David Longstaff who he equals at 101 at the moment.....I will be leaving the all-time detailed stats on the 'fixtures' threat soon after the tournament.
Back to 1A and its a dog fight. Japan in a contest with Hungary wanting a win for promotion. Austria v Slovenia will be war. Austria slip up and they may let Japan and their opponents in.

So does anyone know which imports who have confirmed returns for next season would be eligible for GB? Kowalski? Saurette? Keefe? Faulkner? Don't they have to be resident for 5 years? Kowalski - joined 2010/11 so should be eligble for the Worlds next year Saurette - joined part-way through 2012/13 so won't be eligible until 2017, maybe 2018 Keefe - joined 2011/12 so won't be eligible until 2016 Faulkner - joined 2012/13 so won't be eligible until 2017 Brandon Benedict could have gone to the worlds this year (joined Belfast in 2009/10) Some others Darryl Lloyd - joined 2011/12 so won't be eligible until 2016 Chris "I moved to Sheffield to play for GB" Blight - joined Cardiff 2012/13 so won't be eligible until 2017 Jereme Tendler - joined 2010/11 so should be eligible for the Worlds next year if he stays over here Jason Silverthorn - could have gone to the worlds this year (joined Hull in 2009/10) Sylvian Cloutier - could have been playing since 2011 (joined Coventry in 2006/07)

There's something about having to be of good character, so that's Lloyd out.
Netherlands thrash Romania 9-1 to relegate the Romanians to Div 2A.
Britain currently 1 up against Poland.

You'd have to think if Poland had needed to win the score may have been different, but decent result and leaves us with a shout of bronze if Croatia lose to Lithuania in regulation.

[quote author=" BigLad" source="/post/431165/thread" timestamp="1398431147" Chris "I moved to Sheffield to play for GB" Blight - joined Cardiff 2012/13 so won't be eligible until 2017 [/quote] I'm may be wrong but I'm sure Blight could get a passport already thanks to some ancestor! I'm sure I've seen this somewhere

Here to say that the All-Time stats details are up on the 'Fixtures' thread. opps...Lithuania need the crowd behind them , needing 2 goals to help us into Bronze position with one period to go. Whilst on the international scene. have ben helping this chap out re historical detail, may as well plug the site for anyone interested. internationalhockey.wikia.com/wiki/International_Hockey_Wiki
