Francis & Jacina re-signed. Delighted with Francis, but no thanks to Jacina!

Francis & Jacina re-signed. Obviously Francis is a no brainer but I think we could do loads better than Jacina. Nice hands and can move the puck well but lacks goals for a forward in my eyes

The only retunees we need import wise are Benny, Francis and Werner all the rest are easily replaced.
The way I look at how good I think a player has been for us is how would I feel if they signed for the Steelers and apart from the 3 I named above, I wouldn't care if any of them did sign for the dark side.

I think Salters deserves to be on that list. The guy played injured for a lot of the season and still put up reasonable numbers.
I don't think he'd resign in the EIHL for what it's worth though. Europe or back to America I think.

Jacina scored 3+5 in 2 of his 28 games, so 2+10 in the other 26. Not the kind of numbers I was hoping for. I think management like him, though.

Where's these rumours that Francis and Jacina have already resigned come from?

Just rumours at playoff weekend. I don't pretend to have a major inside source. The person that told me isn't usually wrong however the info is usually 3rd hand.
Would like to see both back. Franny obviously. Jacina i think showed flashes of brilliance but as with many players struggled not having a regular line for the most part.

If Jacina and Kalus are both back as rumoured, then I don't think we're going to be challenging for the league. They're not the players you want on a Sunday night in Cardiff after a hard game against Sheffield at home on Saturday. They're the games which win you the league, and they're the sort of games that Benedict and Keefe win you.

I actually agree with you, Jacina no thanks and Kalus seemed to be amazing some games and then useless the next. Rather see who else we can get. Kalus could be good with the right players and could be a risk some are willing to take.

Kalus is one of those that i'd have back but I wouldn't lose to much sleep if he didn't re-sign. Quality player on his day but if he's anonymous in the away games at the 'rink' teams then that's a big problem. Would like Salters back too but again, if he didn't come back I'm fairly confident that we could pick up another ECHL/AHL player who plays a similar style to him. Must get back:- Werner, Benedict and Francis. Would take all the Brits back too but it seems like there are question marks over Lee who would be a big loss.

I agree Ted, Lee would be a big loss but I do see a silver lining to this - If Lee was to go this would force Corey's hand into going with 4 import D (which 95% of us want). The downside to this is we would loose an import slot in the forward lines. However, the rumoured addition of Peacock would fill this slot quite nicely...........

Fair point - i like the sound of that So far then, if that comes off:- KOWALSKI Green WERNER IMPORT IMPORT Weaver Norton IMPORT Lachowicz FRANCIS IMPORT Peacock BENEDICT IMPORT Clarke IMPORT Farmer Boxill So we've got the 4 import D but only 10 imports due to an abundance of British talent in the Forwards?? Maybe Peacock isn't coming? Maybe he is and the Nomadic Farmer is on his travels again? Maybe with the 11th import we can get an up and coming Brit and go with 4 lines? Or maybe Matthew Myers is coming too? Sort that one out

I think we'd only get Myers and Peacock if Farmer.
However if by some chance we got all 3 and this years current Brit pack that would be a very nice problem to have!
We should go for Jason 'the British chiwawa' Hewitt!

Yes, in terms of skill, he was our best player. But I don't particularly want him back. He knows how good he is and doesn't pass the puck when he should. You win the league by having the best TEAM. Not the best players.

The prospect of the lines put together above does seen pretty tasty and say Lee does go to na and it doesn't work then he can come a slide on into the team freeing up weaver from too much ice time. I'd like to see peacock here and if that leaves a spot for an extra import then why not bring one in and run 3 line and have 2 spares that way if a guy takes a knock or needs an bit more rest then that's catered for. Just have to see how it pans out but I will say this that Stevie Lee has just purchased a house in Nottingham so it would appear he is settled in nottingham

About Steve Lee and his house purchase. He could have been advised to buy a property now though while prices are still relatively low. Kind of a long term investment thing. If he goes to the States he can always rent it out while he's over there and protect his investment. Be a long line of 'bunnies' to rent it out I would imagine

He knows how good he is and doesn't pass the puck when he should. You win the league by having the best TEAM. Not the best players. Jacina was our best player in some of the games at the end of the season - particularly in Belfast. Kalus has that bit extra skill and to me was a must. People keep forgetting that it was a revolving door who they played with. I take the point that at times Kalus needed to release the puck better, but when you need someone to keep hold of it he is in his element. With a more settled side and having had games behind them this season, I would be lithe to throw away their experience of playing with the Panthers to bring in unknowns who might take time to settle in. Continuity is what we did not have this last season, I am sure that CN can get more out of both next season. What I felt at times we missed was the type of "setting up" player, obviously that Ling brought us and the likes of Heerema in the past, to perhaps get the best out of the likes of Kalus.
