At the end of the day there are only 3 trophies (Cups) that ALL 10 Elite League teams can win each season. There are then 2 Conference titles that teams can win. 5 Teams can win one and the other 5 Teams can win the other. All 10 Teams cannot win them both. Therefore the Grand Slam is therefore the 3 trophies/cups that ALL 10 Teams can win. Exactly and very well explained This is logically the only way the Grand Slam can be decided. On the competitions that ALL teams can win. If not then, you could go as far as using the Challenge Cup Groups in the same way as the Conferences. They're 2 mini-leagues to decide an overall outcome (who qualifies for the semi-finals) the same as the Conferences are 2 mini-leagues to decide an overall outcome (who finishes where in the league). Now, if the Elite League had come out and announced Panthers as Grand Slam Winners last season, it would have put an end to all of the bickering and the snidey remarks from elsewhere. Oh, they did.........

Plus have I heard this right.....that the trophy bought by Belfast is to be used for all thereafter. So Giants will hand this over to the next winners bar them?

It's amazing to see some fans are really trying to be little the challenge cup. Steel talk has a thread about if the challenge cup is worth winning and ways to revamp it. Clearly when you have time on your hands not celebrating winning trophies, it becomes easy to think of ways to put other teams achievements. The Challenge cup is always worth winning. Winning is a habit, one we're very lucky to have. If we hadn't have won the last 4 challenge cups or 3 playoffs, our coach may not have got a plan together to win last night. 100% no Steelers fan would see their team win that cup and say "it's a mickey mouse cup, I'm not celebrating it" That's slightly graceless Pies. Fact is that when the CC first started and Steelers won it, it was the Panther's fanbase who called it the "egg cup" and a "Mickey Mouse" trophy not worth winning. That was, until you actually won it! The thread on Steeltalk was started by a Panther's fan so your dig at Steelers is without foundation. Well done on winning it by the way!

Was called the Egg cup as was the Charity plaque called a cheese board.mainly because all sorts of competitions were flying around. The CC coming in at the time the Autumn Cup was still being played. We wanted to know why ( as with the KO Cup) because they don't seem to last. However, with the loss of AC and this one continuing we have had to accept it as our domestic seasons prevailing 3rd competition after league and PO.
