I thought he'd signed in Italy? Is this just wishful thinking?

perhaps called in on his way to Italy, where they aren't expecting him to arrive until after Christmas.

and anyway, Ling on his own isn't going to make a massive difference. The main reason he shone last year was that he had quality players to work with. Not just on his line (Graham, Benedict), but on the other lines as well. When we had 3 quality forward lines the opposition couldn't relax. This season we don't carry that threat.

We had one decent line earlier this season. Lachowicz-Francis-Salters. Now that line has been broken up and Salters doesn't look the player he did.
Ling was absolute quality for us last season but (if he did come) it would be to little to late.
No doubt our wonderful GM would put a massive spin on this though. A legend returns. Bums on seats. Blah blah blah.

He is like Marmite for me at times but why do posters in here need to go off topic just to take a pop at him ?

I just feel like I've been mugged this season and when he (GM) keeps trotting out the same tired old crap, it's very tiresome at best. Anyway, about Ling. I've love to see him back. Stick him on a line with Kalus, could be magic. Still need another quality D man though.

This must be news to Val Pusteria because as of last night they still think hes on his way to them.
Would be shocked if he did or has re-signed with us.
Why would he sign in Italy then decide to sign for us when he would have known we would jump at the chance to re-sign him as we were practically begging him to return in the off season.

I don't think Ling could sign with us if Pusteria hold his ITC card they would have to be aware of the situation and they don't seem to be.

The OP hasn't said which 'Ling'......

but the thread is called 'Ling's back' and as we have only ever signed one player called Ling, then it must refer to him. Either that, or it's a thread about his spine !

Wherever Linger lands, he's not going to be very fit - his last game for the Eastlink Cee-Bee Stars in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (and they say the EIHL is a Bush League!) was on 16 November 2013.

My problem is that, while he would of course be welcome any time here, IMO Ling is more of a supplier than out and out sniper. I am just unsure that any of this year's side could provide that role that Graham did so well (eventually) last season.

Don't matter what category it's in. In your own words " Signed with us" that's a pretty conclusive statement

And there is a chance I'll be wrong. so basically what your saying is that you have no idea what so ever if he has or hasn't signed for us and its nothing more than a lie. what a complete waste of a thread.

i think sameagain has possibly seen Ling at the NIC and put 2+2 together to come of with a potential development and simply put it in rumours - though it does come over as fact in the OP. I dint see it as a lie.
Looks like sameagain has simply got it wrong, and Ling is staying with his move to Italy .... or so it seems right now?
A bit more thought into the original post, and the thread might have been less hostile.

Yep might have been given a bum steer, oh well, was looking forward to see him playing as we need another D-man.
