They've released a t-shirt with "Nottingham Panthers - a league champions 2012-13" I am buying this t-shirt because we've been there, we've done that and you're damn right I've got the t-shirt But this also makes me wonder: is this the start of the Nottingham Panthers dynasty? Is coach Corey the catalyst to the Panthers success as Gretzsky was to the Oilers? Yes I know they wen the Stanley Cup and its a little different but on a comparative basis, could we dominate for a few years now? I thought to myself a few years ago if we could break our duck and take the title then we might see a few more roll in afterwards... heres hoping, you can take back all the CC and play offs we ve won , all ive ever wanted is the league, last night this TEAM made me a very happy man . Its funny back in september how the likes of Gallivan, graham and beckett weren t impressing me , but credit for corey in having the confidence they woud come good ! But if Corey hadn't won the CC's and playoffs he's won, would we have won the league? I think winning those set us up for this.

The 'first' time is the hardest they say, I know it's not your actual first but it's as good as. And now you know you can, there's no reason why you won't. As my nan used to say.

True if those cups hadn t been won Corey probably would t have had the chance in celebrating now , don t get me wrong its great to win a cup but its the league which measures how good a team is through the year. who would have though the night sheffield beat us 9-4 i walked out of there thinking this could send us in a bit of a tailspin etc ... but we ve lost TWICE since that night !!! thats good team spirit

Future successes and a dynasty? Ice hockey is season to season. Well the first question is how many can be retained? Ling one year deal and will no doubt completed his MBA. Jordan - nearly did not come back - maybe will attract offers elsewhere (a magician). Werner - top D man and mobile - similar. Francis - keeps on improving. Graham - now scores for fun and improved on the boards. The challenge could well be to replace - and yes I could have missed some - including CN may be viewed as a coach who has learned and achieved and could create interest elsewhere. With regard to questions about Doug C. - Belfast have a style which worked for much of the season - grinding at times, but I would not question him as a coach.

25 years of following the Panthers and now we've done it. Could shed a tear it's been too long coming but hope it's the start of many. Well done to all the team both on and off the ice. We deserve it.

thanks to those hockey fans from other teams who congratulate us as worthy. Poor on those who are still looking for excuses. Lets party.

Can't quite believe I'm into my 12th year. Where has the time gone!? After so many disappointments in the league we finally do it. I hope we can keep Corey on with Rick and make some more history with back to back league titles! Can't wait for the Cardiff game to see the guys and the trophy. I'm sticking all my cash on a Belfast win tonight though!

Seems a long time since I was idolizing Terry Gudzuinas in 1982 and I have to admit my support has waned over the last few years but I felt very proud last night. Congratulations to Corey, Rick, Neil Black and the team (and whoever it was who updated the club's Wikipedia page so promptly!).
Hope this is our Man United moment and winning the league starts to become a habit rather than an exception.

22 September 1980. Panthers 7 Solihull 4. The start of a long journey and last night we arrived. Many moons ago, during one of our regular hand-wringing sessions about why we hadn't won a league title, I said that when we did, I wanted us to do it properly. And I think that's what we've done. From Mr Black down we have a club to be proud of. I cycled home in my Jeff Heerema shirt last night. Apart from getting soaked, a couple of drivers hooted their horns. It seems word got round quickly. I hope a suitable senior person from the EIHL will be on hand for the presentation on Friday - Tony Smith, perhaps? click

CN and Rick put together what turned out to be the dream team for our league but can't forget the new captain Jordan Fox who is a genuine winner and lead by example all season. So proud of the entire organisation right now.

There are three games that stand out for me as a Panthers fan.
Winning the CC in Sheffield in OT. Ahlroos. Winning the play-offs in Nottingham against Cardiff. Rovnianek. Winning the league in Belfast. Galivan!
I'm beyond gutted I wasn't there for the last one but this is the biggest. This is truly the start of something incredible.

Still feels strange to say we have actually won it ! But all credit to the team that we have this season. They are a step above any panthers team I have seen since I have been going (admittedly not as long as some). The character of this team is phenomenal. For instance we have only lost back to back games twice all season. The last time it happened was the 21st October. Unsurprisingly both times its happened it has been against the Devils at there place. To have a team that can bounce back from defeat and win several on the stretch takes some doing. I also would like to say the group that I go to games with we all choose a player at the start of season. My choice was Galivan and trust him to score the GWG to win us the league, say no more . 2012-2013 - the year of the Panther ! Bring on the Steelers.

We are number 1 and we are the NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS
LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2012 - 2013
How good does that sound.
Almost 24 hours later and I'm still buzzing, in a couple of hours we'll be watching the lads again, this time it's party time, no stress, no tension, just plain old enjoyment with just a touch of relief.
Can't wait for Friday and a huge NIC welcome home from the Panthersnation.
