Hmm, lets hope the organisers of the Nottinghamshire Knitting Championships or someone dont want to hold their event at the NIC, or we could see Mr Geoff 'I really am a fan of icehockey - honest' Huckstep trying to rearrange the playoff. So what happened to the "Lighten up Cagesters!!" approach then Paul?

I dont want to throw a spanner in the works, but is it not time that Belfast had its turn at hosting the Finals weekend? Its just too far away, how many fans do you think could actually afford, or make the effort to go, it would be atleast 70% Belfast fans. As much as i'd love a weekend away in Belfast i dont think having the Play-Off finals there is very suitable. Althought...im sure the people of Belfast would dissagree. Also, I'm glad that the bottom team won't make it through to the Play-Offs, adds a bit of an edge to the challenge down at the bottom of the leauge.

Lets say the 3 'away' tams take 300 each and the rest is made up of Belfast fans, thats ok. 300 or so Panther fans made it to France and Belfast is cheaper and nearer. I just think it should be shared round thats all.

Don't see why you should. You already get a discount on regular season games, and will no doubt be given the option of having your regular seat for the play offs. How about 'doing right' by the people who go to the majority of home games but don't have a season ticket for whatever reason? If the season ticket holders get a discount, that means the rest of us will be subsidising your tickets! Don't see why we should? Let me think..... forking out £300 (in my case) in advance, thus helping to provide the club with a load of funds over the off-season? Us season ticket holders show our loyalty to the club by forking out in advance..... in some cases (like myself) going into the red to do so. And we've had similar discounts before, so it's not as if it's something unprecedented. I'm not one of those expecting extra 'free' games simply because we had 28 on the ticket last season but only 25 this season.... that's down to us losing Manchester from the league, and that's not the fault of the Panthers. I'd just like to see the season ticket holders getting a little extra, as has happened before. Greedy? - perhaps. But let's face it - we've put our money where our mouths are, in advance. That counts for something, no?

so 400 steelers fans, 400 panthers fans, 50 basingstoke fans 50 or less london fans, 400 cardiff fans 400 coventry fans
probably no more than 2000 away supporters going on past play-off attendences
there will be a hell of alot of belfast fans well alot more than what panthers and steelers
so there would be about 4000 belfast fans compared with the rest. people will not travel to belfastwhether it is cheap or not, as most people won't be able to book 2 days at least off work(friday and monday)

We agree on one thing then. But let's face it - we've put our money where our mouths are, in advance. That counts for something, no? Yes it does. It counts for getting the discount you signed up for on regular season home games, and allows you to guarantee you get the same seat at every home game. I don't see why it should count for any more than that.

Another problem with Belfast - apart from the distances, costs and people in the armed forces not being allowed to travel there.....
The Odyssey has a smaller capacity than the NIC - and there were plenty of complaints about the chance of the NIC being too small last season. Now either this will stop some fans from attending - never a good idea - or it won't make a difference, they won't fill the Odyssey anyway, and to make up for the shortfall in revenue they'll put the ticket prices up even more!
BTW - another objection that just occurred to me. We get a fair few BNL & EPL fans attending the Play-Offs weekend.... which is surely a good thing for cross-league integration. How likely is that in Belfast?
Hmmm... that's a point - the U20s game and the Planet Ice Shield game.... how are those teams, with their much lower budgets, expected to afford the travel and accomodation in Belfast?
I like visiting Belfast, don't get me wrong...... but IMHO the Odyssey is not a suitable location for the Play-Offs weekend.

We agree on one thing then. Not really..... and I'm tempted to include a two-word retort with the second one being "off" Well - if that's your opinion, then why should I accept that ordinary game-by-game ticket holders should expect any discounts? You're not making any kind of logical sense here. Maybe it is YOU being greedy? - or just mardy?

Surely to an extent it would make good business sense ...
Panthers PLC like season ticket buyers as it means a big influx of cash in the summer, the more ST buyers there are, the more that summer lump sum is ...
To get more ST buyers over the summer .... let them be seen to be getting corking value for money with handy little 'bonuses'...
Just a thought.
{BTW ... I've heard talk of a mini ST just for the play-off games}

Us season ticket holders show our loyalty to the club by forking out in advance..... in some cases (like myself) going into the red to do so. So people like me who buy £13 tickets for every game don't show loyalty? I didn't want to go into the red so I didn't buy one again this year, but that works out at £325 over the course of the season if I go to every game for a Silver or Bronze seat. I'm not saying i should have a discount by any means, but I don't see why season ticket holders should pay less when they get a game by game reduction and the same seat every week. (before I start getting flamed I used to be a season ticket holder and probably will be one again next season, I just don't think that being an ST holder entitles you to special discounts because you paid money up front, all my opinion of course) On Topic: I'm glad the play-offs are back in Nttingham and I also think that the addition of a 3rd/4th place play-off will enhance the weekend.

For the record only 2 steelers matches have been moved so far to Ice Shuff, so its only 2 tickets so far.
I'm glad the play-offs are in nottingham again, think i said that already somewhere.

Firstly the Panthers have to run the club as a profit making business, However I believe that it's good business sense to look after ST Holders whenever they can. They have my money in May. That means: Before most of the team has signed: They have my money. If when the fixtures come out (after they have my money) and I'm away.. (always seem to miss 2 or 3): They have my money. If they stink the place out in mid table: They have my money. If i'm sick and I can't get out of bed: They have my money. and so on. I'm sure The Panthers take all of the above into account, that's why in the past they have given ST Holders the odd bonus and long may it continue I'm not saying that ST Holders show more loyalty than others but they do show a season long commitment to the club when there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the team, fixtures, so on and I don't think it's wrong for the club to reward that commitment when they can.

Maybe it is YOU being greedy? - or just mardy? Good question, why should you accept that? I don't think I ever suggested that game-by-game ticket holders should expect a discount. I did suggest that the club shouldn't just 'do right' by the season ticket holders, but also by the rest of us. I just think it should be made clear what is included in the season ticket package when they go on sale so that people can make an informed decision. If play-off tickets are going to cost more for those of us that choose to buy tickets on a game-by-game basis, then I would've liked to know that when I made my decision not to get a season ticket. In my case, there was a very fine line between if it made sense to get a season ticket or not; based on how many games I knew I wouldn't be able to make it to. Discounts on play-off games could've tipped the balance in favour of buying a season ticket.

You mean after last Saturday's debacle v Watford you're thinking of saving ya money and just buying a Panthers ST instead Jonno?!! There are only the Saturdays of the 19/3, 26/3 and 2/4 to fit in Panthers 4 home play off games. Considering the Riverdance is at the NIC from the 17/3 to 20/3 [Sheffield Arena 14/3 -16/3, Cardiff 22/3 - 26/3] then at least 2 home matches won't be on a Saturday night and at least one will probably be a mid-week game. With that in mind BJ is probably spot on about a Panthers mini ST. It'll probably cost £40-£44 for the 4 games.
