Suppose it depends what wage they'd expect on top of the insurance costs, and what we'd normally pay out for a top end player.

Freddie Black (Neil's son) has just tweeted in reply- "Nottingham had 2 players who wanted to come together & was looking good until we were told insurance would cost $104,000!! #bye" Judging by that though they would be pretty handy players at that insurance cost, as apparently insurance firms are quoting £10,000 - 25000 per million of a contract. So if you take the middle ground of £15000 to insure each player per million of contract, your not looking at a Shawn Thornton or other 4th line grinders but two players with a fair amount of quality. (Well enough quality to be worth about $6 million between them over their remaining contracts)

Id be guessing at two of the Staal Brothers , but only cause they are elite players and with the Jeff link.
I don t think wages are such a problem its the insurance and necessary cover which is the stumbling block

I mentioned the Insurance issue earlier. I'm so happy when rumors back up what i was saying.
It's a shame that that's such a stumbling block but those sort of prices per month is a killer to near enough every team over here.

If it's insurance that's the problem Sheffield will be signing a few. After all they don't bother with insurance just ask Marc twaite

Staal brothers? No chance. No player of quality is going to join this beer league. Too high a chance of injury and boredom.

I am massively crossing my fingers we end up with some proper heavyweight enforcers over here, god knows this country needs them.

If DC of Belfast doesn t think its affordable for short term then i can t see how the clan and sheffield can tbh . Theres a difference between a NHLer and a NHLer on a lock out contract

I see you re quickly back tracking , now you think it's a good move yet when panthers signed AS you were finding every negative under the sun

and where i have i metnioned anything postive or negative on this thread ? just that i have heard a rumour about signings , when announced then i shall comment on wether its good or bad . i commented on your signing as i thought you would get rid of someone , but as it happens you have injuries so cant afford to so its worked out ok for you . any nhl player coming to these shores i think is great , i just hpe teams have plans for when they return simple.

If panthers signed another nhler that would be 14 imports on there roster , I mean no one could accuse you of buying the league if you won it . Mr black must have deep deep pockets

Mr black must have deep deep pockets If that happens i can't see us running with 14 imports. A couple would be on there way out when weaver and neilson return and corey will also be moving to the bench eventually. P.S. Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me. ;D
