I met up with some work colleagues in the pub last night. I had managed to get a couple of them to go to Saturdays match for the first time. It appears that they fully enjoyed the game and would be going again, however one thing really bugged them. Why was the rink announcer trying to encourage the fans to chant about a "Poor Ladies Barmy Army" ;D ;D I thought the rules of the game would baffle them. How wrong can you be?

He was trying to get the crowd to sing Paul Adeys Barmy Army This happened in France, so the supporters club arranged for the announcer to cue on 18 minutes of the game - a few would chant 'Paul Adeys' and get everyone to follow with ' Barmy Army' I wasn't there in France - but the supporters kept this chant up for the remaining few minutes of a game Good idea i thought - but didn't come off

He was trying to get the crowd to sing Paul Adeys Barmy Army I understood the concept, I just thought that it was amusing to think that some people new to the game get more confused by our coach's name and the chants rather than the rules of ice hockey (icing, off-side and the penalties etc.)
