Anyone seen the new Ford Fiesta advert? The Fiesta plays the part of a puck in a Hockey game to represent it being "tough" .However,it`s a cool advert, well filmed and represents hockey well!Just a shame the sports bosses on the TV don`t see the potential of marketing our sport as well......

What would you estimate the audience to be for a saturday night match then on TV. Going up against casualty or Ant and Dec ?. Lets be serious and think about this, what are there 3 games on a saturday night, total audience max 15,000 (and thats presuming us, Belfast and Sheffield are all playing at home). So if a game was shown on TV, how many people would actually stay at home and watch? More importantly how many new converts would we get from the publicity. Many years ago BBC showed the semi's and final of the then autumn cup, and more recentlt sky showed a live game on tuesday nights, what did this do for the sport and bums on seats......NOTHING. The sky coverage was fantastic, plenty of cameras so the action was portrayed well. When this was pulled I spoke a producer and asked why, his answer a simple one....to cover hockey properly and give it any justice whatsoever you need at least 5 cameras, and the production costs are way too high. I have a better idea, everyone at the arena bring a friend that would double the crowd, and if 1 in 10 of those came back then thats good for the sport. I started on a similar thing, one game i was hooked, and what a roller coaster ride i have personally had with the Panthers ever since

When I started dating my current girlfriend, she couldn't see what all the fuss was about (Panthers & the sport in general), but know she loves it. I've taken Her mum & sister enjoy going too, and I've got mates who'll go if they have nowt else to do. They aren't dies hards, but...
