Really cant see it. We have just announced Norton coming back and Meyers seems set to stay. Even if Lee does leave I can't see us going for a rapidly declining Weaver.

All this from Dave Simms facebook/twitter i presume
David Simms Tom Norton returns to the Panthers today, more important than you may think as I keep hearing Stevie Lee to North America rumours ..... then again if Jonathan Weaver leaves Coventry, as I expect, Nottingham could be his retirement home not Guildford.

If he signs for Panthers it will be a rubbish signing. If he ends up at Sheffield, for whatever reason, it will be a fantastic signing.
Only way Weaver is coming to us is fee we lose Lee and Myers.

If we lose Lee will we not have to sign a proven Brit D-man though ? maybe Weaver is declining but is there anyone else we could have ?

Ok fair enough I see what you mean. Thanks.
I still hope we can keep hold of Lee but if hes off to NA you can't blame the lad.

Personally i think the more quality brits (and Weaver is a quality brit as shields is a quality brit) that panthers sign the better for two reasons. It makes the bench longer with players who arent there to just warm it which helps with injuries etc and the 2nd reason means they wont be playing against us... I for one hope he signs and he can add to the brit defence as we all know CN is not going to sign 4 import defencemen no matter what is written in the paper ...

While Weaver is a quality player, I think he is no-where near the player he was three or four years ago(although IMO he was only behind Theo as league MVP when Vipers won the playoffs), and while Neilson is there, not sure he would fit into the system (although obviously if Corey does hang up his boots part way through, he would be an ideal player to slot in)

You'd be mad to sign him or Fussey - and that's coming from a Blaze fan.
Weaver hasn't got the legs for this league anymore. Him and Phillips made the ultimate turnover line for us. It's not like I would have him back if he took a pay cut either. He's just too much of a liability. He was a great player but I think last season was a season too far for him. As for Fussey. He drifts in and out of game far too much for me. It would be interesting to see where most of his points came from last season. I'm confident in saying it was against Fife, Caps and other lower end teams. Wouldn't want either of them back, and i'd be shocked if they did get re-signed.

Why would we want any players from last seasons blaze team ? Really ? Weaver? Are we that desperate for a Brit ?

I am sure belfast, steelers, and the panthers would take shea guthrie in a heartbeat, one of the best players skillwise to pull on a blaze jersey, had a fantastic season last year coming off a year with a serious injury, and a player thommo will try to build a team around

But as a 5th or 6th dman instead of a number 1 or 2 dman playin probably a maxim of 10-15 mins a game he would be a great addition IMO to any eliteleague team

If we manage to keep Matt Myers this season, and sign another quality Brit, I will be stunned.
