Steel talk is brilliant - all of a sudden Shields is the "Worst and laziest player ever"
And some, quite rightly, are questioning Finnerty's coaching style. His man management can't be great: King last season, Shields this season and a host of players who have come out afterwards stating displeasure.
It's nice to be on the other side of this fence.

Shields is no great loss for Shuff.
Deeds is a loss for the league. We need more loonies like him.

Shields is no great loss for Shuff. Deeds is a loss for the league. We need more loonies like him. i will respectfully disagree with you here. shields- point per game production with only 1 point in last 5 games would suggest he has just hit a slow patch we have plenty of players going through similar point problems. as for didiomete he isnt a loss for the league at all not the way he played and acted. however IF he had come to the league backing up the chat and living up to the hype i wouldve agreed with you.

We don't need him because, quite frankly, we have enough good British players - but this has weakened Sheffield quite badly IMHO... oh dear, what a pity, never mind . As for Didiot... can't see as to how this league - or any other - needs a loudmouthed muppet like him. Must check my dictionary to see if his name is under the entry for "keyboard warrior". Highly visible online, virtually invisible on the ice. Can't see as to how the Devils can fail to be upgraded by replacing him.

Whilst I think it would have been better if he backed it up on the ice, he did indeed get people talking and trying to predict what he'd actually do. I also think there was a lot of expectation for him to come in and directly fill Voth's skates. That was a big ask and was never really going to happen - Voth was a one-off (thank god)

Can't imagine they'll exactly be crying into their shellsuits To be fair, he's racked up a few points and scored a few for us, don't know about the rumours but Thommo ha been quoted to have said to him that we now have Mike Bayrack back fit so we have an extra import so he wouldn't play every game, he's had an offer of a 2 year deal in Italy so you can't blame him, plus Thommos statement seems to say that Matt Beleskey must be around for a while otherwise it would leave us with a import short, Beleskey has improved game on game and was awesome against fife at the weekend and he knows where the net is, so if GG is going to make room for him........ Game On

Hartmanis joins the Clan! January 6, 2013
Braehead Clan are delighted to confirm that Latvian forward Toms Hartmanis will return to the EIHL as a Clan player! The 6’0 180lbs 25 year old from Riga, Latvia previously played for the Newcastle Vipers in 2010/2011 and Fife Flyers in 2011/2012. Whilst with the Vipers, Hartmanis notched up 55 pts (21 & 34) in 54 games and played 42 games for the Flyers last season scoring 13 goals and 22 assist for 35 points.
Hartmanis is no stranger to the EIHL and has also played in the KHL, Kazakhstan, Belarus and his native Latvia.
Clan are looking forward to welcoming Toms to the club and he will wear the #16 jersey during his time with the Clan. Toms makes his debut for the Clan at their home game on Sat 12th Jan when they take on the Dundee Stars!
Toms had the following to say on the signing:
“It feels great to have signed with an organisation like Braehead. I have heard a lot of good things about the club, the city and the support and I am looking forward to pulling on a Clan shirt.”
“Obviously I have played against the Clan during my time in Newcastle and while with Fife, so I am excited to make Braehead Arena my new home rink”.
A club spokesperson added “Toms is a great skater, he is fast and quick in front of the net, he will work well on our team. He is a hard worker and will be a great asset to the Clan with his speed and skill in front of the net.”
See Hartmanis debut at the Clan Vs Dundee Stars game on Sat 12th Jan, face off 7pm , and keep an eye out for more signing news over the next two weeks!
