I guess like myself most you enjoyed Ivans 'saluting' goal celebration to the Panthers fans last night.
Did anyone notice however that once the celebrations had died down Boniface made a b-line to Clarke, made a comment, and Clarke then skated over to the bench and made a comment to Ivan??
One of 2 senarios:
1. Boniface was commenting on how much he enjoyed the celebrations and was passing on his thanks to Ivan
or
2. Boniface decided the celebration was inappropiate and warned Ivan via Clarke.
If it was senario number 2, is their anything in the rules that state how or how not a goal can be celebrated?
If so then maybe Ivan was out of place, if not was Boniface who IMHO had a charisma bye pass long ago, out of order with any possible warnings he issued.
I presonally think the different celebrations are great, they give the players more individual personalties on the ice, so it would be a shame if they were not allowed to celebarte how they wanted (within reason of course)

well if there are any rules about celebrating then I'd guess they are only the usual thing about not inciting violence or winding up the opposition fans. I don't see any logical reason why Ivan should not be allowed to do his salute.
But with that ref who knows! I can just imagine it now actually "Penalty to the Nottingham Panthers, 2 mins to #49 Marek Ivan for...err.....celebrating"
while on the subject tho I think it's about time we started saluting him back don't you think?

yeah great idea DoUrden would look very good everytime he scored ;D
but i think Boiface just doesn't like panthers at all or ice hockey in fact
those kind ofcelebrations make the fans get on there feet more, it not like he did it infront of the cardiff fans was it, he came all the way down to centre ice before he started doing it.

We can do it just as he comes back to the bench from where we are too!

Jumping the gun a bit? You've no real idea what Boniface was talking to Clarke about... may have been totally unrelated, usually when refs talk to players after a goal, they're checking who got the assists...
The short version for Scousers... CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN. ;D
P.S. If a goal celebration was overlong or thought to be inciting the oppo's fans, then an unsportsmanlike conduct or delay of game pen might be appropriate, but for what Marek is reported to be doing, it shouldn't be a problem - and I agree that it's good to see a bit of personality from the players!

I might be missing the point here, or perhaps everyone else is. While Ivan was celebrating his goal, (superb individuality IMHO), didn't anyone else notice JC hearding up everyone else on the ice for his own pat on the back? What was that all about? EITHER- JC is beginning to get his nose pushed out as the fans' favourite, and "needed a cuddle" (aw, bless!) OR, (and more likely) JC is beginning to realise that he can't win games on his own, and has become more of a "team member" as well as a team player. However we celebrate goals, let's just hope we get plenty of practice, starting on Tuesday!

well they usally always do that hearding up (as you call it) when we score, but MI just like doing his own thing.
Kinda like what nieckar did when he scored (you know his arrow thing)

Interesting point is this. I was in the States a couple of weeks ago and went to a College Football game, I was dumbfound to discover that celebrating a touchdown is ILLEGAL in college football (apparently because it isn't very nice for the opposition or something!) and you get penalised by having to take the next kick off 20 yards further into your own half than normal!
Crazy or what!?!

lol thats crazy! I think putting JC and ivan on the same line is genius!Instead of them being selfish and doing it on their own I think theyre starting to realise that theyre better if they work together and if they pass theres someone else who can shoot on their line! Lets hope it works out!

I agree that you don't see enoughi ndividual celebrations these days. Anyone remember Billingham's Cal Land & his bow & arrow or Cardiff's / Peterboro's Johnny Lawless shooting the scoreboard. There was also someone who used to ride his stick like a horse back to centre ice. Can't recall who it was - the old grey matter is losing it.

Maybe the crowd need some encouragement. The announcer has 'Rule Britannia' for the Brits, maybe someone could suggest a track suitable to play for Ivan and his saluting ;D

Can not remember who the guy was but a couple of seasons ago at the Telford tigers charity match this chap skated backwards a little like a moonwalk to the tune of March of the Mods twirling his stick.... excellent goal celebration LMAO, got to see it more than once as luckily he scored three times ;D
I did return the salute to Marek as well, lets hope he scores tomorrow then we will all be ready. This guy really seems to enjoy his hockey, quite often seen talkin to opposing players in a jovial manner an havin a butchers into the crowd during the game when he gets back to the bench....taking it all in his stride. Class act. Lets encourage it. Looks good on the line with JC as well.

There have been a few of us Saluteing when ever Ivan has scored. It all started up in Hull, He celebrated with a Salute. From then on Me, Morely#99 and few others have all been raising our hands in gesture to each and every one of his goals. I have evan received a salute back from a salute of my own one evening when he skated round after a home game.
As for being penalised for celebrating.. thats Stupid. I can imagine there being restictions... I don't think that stripping down to your undercrackers every time you scored would go down well. Simalry climbing up the plexi and dancing infront of the opposition fans would be deemed aceptable. ;D

Prior to that, Cal was outraged after the opposition scored from his turnover and he wasn't given an assist on the goal. Skated to the time keeprs bench, demanded an assist on it. Which was duly given. ;D His antics were very amusing in that game - he certainly knew how to play to the gallery! ;D

Thanks MP your right. Cal Land thats the chap, had no teeth ;D. My 31 year old grey matter aint what it used to be. The assist on the turnover was hilarious too, when he came into the game he slid in on his stomach into the middle of the ice, certainly a crowd pleaser. ;D While we are on the subject, the shirt auction at the end of the game raised a fair few quid..... My final bid on Whistles shirt was well beaten and I bid £150. I ended up with Carl Creamer's shirt at a cool £65. Im sure as Cal was the biggest personality on the ice his shirt raised even more than Whistlers..... just shows what having a great entertaining personality can do
