Hot news from up the road.
Following a win of 200 notes on the 50/50 in the TinShed this evening, BDS approached Uncle Nort with a cash offer for the Steelers.
Uncle Nort apparently memorised by the sight of a fistful of used twenties in BDSs sweaty palm immediately accepted.
Contracts were drawn up on the back of a couple of fag packets, and following exchange of fag packets an impromptu news conference was held.
A tearful BDS (well he had just sat through another Steelers home game) said (with slurred speach and a glazed over look):
" This is one of the happiest days of my life. I now own the Sheffield Steelers. David Simms has just told me that I am now his new bestest mate, and I want eveyone to know that no expense would be spared in taking the club back to the top".
When asked to elaborate on "no expense being spared", the proud owner said.
" We are going to use proper Superglue and gaffer tape to mend the sticks with, not the cheap nasty sticky tape used by the previous owner, and that one of the first jobs on Monday morning will be to go to Boots to buy a First Aid Kit for the Doctor at the games!!)
We in the Cageforum wish the new owner of the Steelers well, and will be looking forward to a free pint in the Castle on the 31st!!
Regards
HL
PS: The cost of that duty free I got you BDS has now gone up in price ;D

Paul, my good friend you missed one vital point.
Your quite right, Norton offered me the Sheffield Steelers for a bargain price of £200, however because of my outstanding generocity (Enfield Bar Bill, £31.76) I was left with only £190.
Norton in his infinate wisdom said to me "Dave me old mukka, I cannot possibily sell the Steelers for less than £200, unfortunatly if you wish to have a Netto branded Ice Hockey team, there is one a few miles down the road, on offer at 77 pence, which leaves you a whole £189.23p with which to get equipement, and much needed medical staff (One of my minor failings)"
So, after much soul searching, and checking of brown soap in my pocket, and with tears in my eyes, I have been unable to realise my dream of being the proud owner of the wonderful Steelers.
Peter Risdale (that once famous football chairman), contacted me last night, to offer this advice "don't worry about being the owner of a high profile club, look at me, I went from L***d United to B******y".
So, I have done a Peter Risdale, and bought a cheaper club. Yes I am proud to announce that after my huge winfall last night, I have purchased an Ice Hockey club. Not the above mentioned Sheffield Steelers but their arch rivals, the Nottingham Panthers, which came with a bag of chips and a Sheffield fishcake.
There will be no huge changes, the achievements of the Nottingham Panthers are down to the outstanding man-management of Paul Adey and the backroom staff. I will not be offering my services on the playing side, however the one immediate change, assuming this man can be bought, I would be wanting to bring a new rink announcer. I will leave you all to speculate as to who this could be, but you will be debating about it for years to come, when you hear the name.
(Much Appologies to the Forum Admin for the additional work, that you may encounter ;D ;D)
I wish to put on record, that my belief that after 48 years of missing the league championship, the Nottingham Panthers can go from strength to strength this year, and can progress from being the Bridesmaid to......... well
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Dave Simms will be most unhappy, after all he watches more of their games than Steelers games doesn't he? If you were to spend £187 on the Blaze then surely Steelers was yours for a £100, after all there only going to be a farm team for the Blaze arn't they? ;D HL
