Just seen a rumour on twitter he could be on his way back to Cardiff as his league finishes next week.

Would love to see us sign him - but on our limited budget (what with the low crowds and everything), it won't happen Then again, seeing as he was in the country recently, maybe get steve carpenter back instead

Regular season does. But why he'd then leave before the playoffs...

There's no money left to sign him, its been put aside to pay for Maccas flights backward and forwards and to keep his apartment. The one he isn't staying in.

The EBEL splits into two with the top 6 playing for the championship and the bottom 5 playing for goodness knows what as there is no relegation.
As his side VSV finished in the bottom 5 they might want to dispense with their big earners.
There may be some really decent players to be had from that league now, especially from the bottom 5 clubs

I don't think that's quite correct Harlan, the top 6 play a mini league for playoff placings, at the same time the bottom 5 play a mini league for the last 2 playoff spots, 8 in total. You start with some bonus points for where you finished in the regular season. So should they fail in that stage, I guess he's done for the year, but I think that's at least another 8 games (home/away versus each). That was my understanding from their website anyway. Then it doesn't make sense for clubs in the bottom 5 to have been releasing players that could still do a job for those teams in the last few days.
I'm not disputing your point, just saying it seems nonsensical to me Yotes
