Some great goals on Sat. Kalmikov's was a blinder from nowhere, Clarke's was smashed into the top right corner with aplomb and Caddy's shorthanded breakaway was very nicely slotted. Admit I can't quite remember Ivan's.
Craiger was solid all night. Myers never stopped and I'm quite fond of this guy as he always seems to play his heart out. Carlsson did some great last ditch defensive plays. Cruickshank was brilliant too. And all this without the services of Mr Tvrdon as well. I'm a happy bunny.
I like David Clarke a lot and his name is probably going on my shirt this year. Thoroughly enjoyable game all in all. Roll on Tuesday.

Oh, and just to join in the 'Was it ? Wasn't it ?' a goal discussion: I had a very poor view from Block 15 and can therefore safely say that it looked like Ivan patted it down straight into the net, but then I couldn't see beyond the keeper to where Ivan's stick would have been so possibly not, but I heard a clank which could have been the stick hitting the puck or the post, so it might have been. I trust this clarifies the matter and renders any further debate unnecessary. ;D

LoL Rhino - that's a classic! ;D
Pretty well sums up the view the referee got of the incident I reckon. Nigel seemed to go missing at times on Saturday - must be why, he was up in Block 15 with you by the sound of it! ;D

I was sat near the front of block 9 + so had a perfect view of the Ivan 'goal'. It certainly wasn't a goal as he batted the puck in with his glove I'm afraid. It was a nice try by him though!! ;D

The mention of Caddy's goal reminded me : did anyone else notice Ivan hooking Cardiff's last man in order that he didn't catch up with Caddy? That guy is a legend!!

It didn't look so clear cut from where I was sat! ;D I should change your seat next week Martin - seems it didn't give the best of views on Saturday! As Chokkas' Mum says, "On hearing two eye witness accounts.... .... you wonder about history". There's a lot of truth in that.

Indeed, all modern historians are all too aware of this (hence historiography). But my view of that end of the ice was perfect so there! I'm not saying that the D man could have got close enough to legally challenge Caddy (he couldn't) but IMO he might have got close enough to hack him down. And with hindsight I'm happier with it this way than having to take the chance on the penalty shot. But then again, if I saw a video of the goal my mind might well be swayed, who knows! ;D

The mention of Caddy's goal reminded me : did anyone else notice Ivan hooking Cardiff's last man in order that he didn't catch up with Caddy? That guy is a legend!! Not as good as Zukiwsky's classic move while stood on the bench some years ago. A Storm D-man was checked into the boards right next to him and as Zuke had his arms folded as he leant on the boards from the bench side, he sneakily held the end of the Storm player's stick with an unseen hand to stop him skating away after our attacker. Our man duly scored and the Storm player went mad. Ref saw nowt. We didn't realise what Zuke had done until we saw the replay in the Skater's Bar at the end of the period. Beer was spat in all directions as we collapsed in hysterics. Zuke was a real one off ;D
