Yes, we both finished top of our group but they still handled it correctly and it was common sense that this would be the way.
If this happened in the NHL and the Eastern #1 play the Western #1 in the final, the team with the most points gets home advantage.

If home or away weren't decided on a flip of a coin, i will be disserpointed with the league once again. Why? Belfast got more points in their group than we did (OK, a much easier group, but even so)... maybe that would be the criterion for deciding who gets choice of 1st or 2nd leg at home? After all, in the NHL - the league people are always saying we should look up to as Doing It Right (TM) - the division winners get automatic home ice advantage in the first 3 rounds of the Stanley Cup Play-Offs (in the last round, the team with the best league record that year gets it)... so if Belfast did better than us in their group - maybe that's the most sensible yardstick to use? Or maybe it comes down to ice-time. Who knows? Whatever the answer, I certainly don't think we should automatically assume we're being screwed if we don't get the preferred slot. Belfast had a far easier league. Also as we never played any of the teams in their group, there is no yard stick. (all teams play each other in the NHL) Toss of the coin is the only fair way. It's the Leagues call so, I'm guessing coin came into it, but it wasn't tossed.

16/03/2011 confirmed on Panthers site now.
Just had a look at flights,EMA to Belfast City with Flybe £169 for two people +cc charge.
BMI Baby just under £80.00+cc for two and they fly to Belfast City now. There is a cheaper later flight but it doesn't land until just after 6.00pm. If there were any hold up, you might miss some of the game.
Premier Inn on Alfred Street £29.00, Travelodge £49.00 at the minute.

Lets hope that we can do what they did to Cardiff in the Semi-final. They had a 4 goal lead from the 1st leg at home to take with them to Cardiff for the 2nd Leg, and they made it to the final OK. If they can do it, so can we. Come on Panthers, lets show them how to do it.

Panthers should switch round their home league fixture with Belfast on the 19th march, to make it the 2nd legof the final, with the league fixture between the sides on the 8th march..

Although I think it's our turn to win on pen shots now. Playoff - us 1st league game - you league game at NIC - us league game in O - you so there we go. I should also point out if you can stay longer St Pats day in Belfast - an experience if ever there was one, or fly to and from Dublin with Ryanair and have St Pats day in Dublin.

Been to Belfast twice this season. As much as I'd live to, I can't take the days off work, spend the money and get trolleyed on Belfast again. Gutted we won't see the 2nd leg.

Well let's hope that belfast are not starting to find their form considering the current score against Sheffield. If they are we are going to be in trouble.

If Panthers play like they did last night against the Steelers, then we've got a very good chance!

Come on Panthers....every effort to get a good haul of goals for the 2nd leg.Let's get behind them Tuesday folks. Then we hope to lift the CUP at home v Belfast in the last home league encounter after the 2nd leg.Don't care if we lose that one, Belfast can have the league instead.

You already know what Belfast are going to play like on Tuesday. They are going to come out hard and fast for the first 10 minutes to try and get a couple of quick goals, after that they will trying and just contain us for the rest of the game.
IMO our CC hopes depend entirely on the first leg we need to make sure we win it and if possible win it well as I can not see us winning in Belfast but we can definitely restrict them or keep it close.
3 goals lead would be amazing from the first leg and one that would give us the best chance of holding it in belfast.
Belfast will not be too disappointed if they go back just 2 goals down, they will be very happy at just one goal down and delighted if they go back with a tie.

I'm hoping Belfast will be thinking 'Steelers tomorrow night - that is a must win, we mustn't pick up match penalties or injuries in tonights game against panthers, we can go a bit easy tonight and keep something in the tank for tomorrow, because there is always a 2nd leg in CC to pull that back - but steelers is a must win'
