Like Tvrdon has, we can see why he aint in the show this year, even if the show aint started! Hold on mate Tvrdon has been carrying an ankle injury for two weeks of the season that he picked up in the cardiff game and he's only been in the country a month and had never played together with any of the players before, does not speak much english probably never even been to this country before let alone play in this league and hense the fact still got as many points as JC if not more!

Bees kept up their 100% home record, with a hard fought win over the Nottingham Panthers, who iced without John Craighead, after his Match penalty the night before.
Bees opened the stronger of the two sides and were good value for the lead they took in the seventh minute. With Mike Rees and Roman Tverdon in the box, Bees made the most of the space, with Serge Dube threading a beautiful long pass, just past the outstretched sticks of two Panthers defencemen and onto the stick of Martin Masa, who deeked to the back-hand and poked the puck through the 5-hole of Curtis Cruickshank in the Panthers goal.
Just 70 seconds later though, with Rees and Tverdon still in the box, Marek Ivan intercepted a Bees clearance on the right of the blue line, fed it goalwards, where it landed on the stick and an un-marked David Clarke on the edge of the crease. He turned and fired into the roof of the net to level the scores.
The period was fast, with both teams having good spells of possession and territory, but Bees were just about on top and with Richard Wojciak in the box for the Panthers, Bees took the lead again. Matus Petricko picked up the puck on the right, near the goal-line, held onto it for several seconds, weighing up the options, before firing to the far post, where Steve Weidlich was driving the net. The defenceman made no mistake, slamming the puck home with a one-timer.
The first period had seen the Bees just about on top, but for the first ten minutes of the second, they were dominant. However, Cruickshank was standing up to the pressure and Bees couldn’t convert their pressure into goals.
As the period went on, Panthers began to come more into the game and finished on top. The best chance of the period fell to the visitors, Stevie Lyle saving well from Ivan on a thirty second minute break-away.
With a minute to go in the period, Matus Petricko showed superb hands to get through two defencemen, but had his skates taken clean out from under him and lifted several feet into the air. However, there was no call and no further chances as the second period ended at 2-1.
Panthers opened the strongest in the third and Lyle had to be on his toes to produce a superb double save from Jan Magdosko and Ivan in the forty fourth minute.
It was against the run of play when the Bees extended their lead in the forty seventh minute. Petricko did well to feed Mike Ellis in the slot. The Bees coach turned and shot, but it was saved by Cruickshank. However, Petricko had not stopped and followed up on the shot and slammed the rebound through the 5 hole.
The more the period went on, the more Nottingham pushed on, but Paul Adey made things hard on his team, picking up the only two penalties of the final period. The first was for a poor line change, which left the Panthers with too many men on the ice. The second, to a chorus of boos and then cheers, was for a failed stick measurement on Mike Rees. This was a desperate last throw of the dice, with just over five minutes remaining. The stick was fine and the Bees took full advantage of the resulting powerplay. Weidlich fed the puck along the blue line to Dube at the right point. His slap-shot was tipped into the roof of the net by Peter Campbell to put the game beyond doubt, with just four and a half minutes remaining.
Still the Panthers didn’t give up though and with 2:24 remaining, there was a goalmouth scramble at the Bees end. The puck broke loose to the left of the slot, from where Calle Carlsson fired high into the Bees net.
Adey immediately called a time out and withdrew Cruickshank for the extra skater. For the remainder of the game, the puck never left the Bees zone once as the Panthers piled on the pressure, with Lyle thwarting everything on his way to picking up the Bees man of the match, the best of which robbed Ivan with just ten seconds left.
So, the Bees roll on and take another EIHL scalp. Bees have now won all 6 of their home games, half of which have been against EIHL opposition, scoring a massive 42 goals in the process, while conceding just 11, as the Hive starts to look like something of a fortress. Tonight, it was also a noisy fortress, complete with four drums in three different parts of the rink and a larger and more vociferous crowd than in recent times.
There were several good performances for the Bees tonight. Lyle played a blinder, winning the man of the match award, while Petricko continued his good form of late, scoring one, making another (Though not credited with the assist) and generally looking superb. Petricko looked the weakest of the new imports in the first few games, but has picked up in the last few games and has been a star.
Panthers man of the match went to Clarke, who took his early chance well, though the best Panther on the ice by a mile was Ivan. Carlsson played very well, while Cruickshank won’t be happy with his performance, twice seeing the puck go through the five-hole.

Like Tvrdon has, we can see why he aint in the show this year, even if the show aint started! Krulis is out of his depth no affense but have you seen much of them play this season?? alot of people seemed to have big expectations for tvrdon because he's played in the nhl so has probably been the biggest let down, but he's play is decent and gets better game by game, especially now he's teamed up with ivan and kalmikov. and i haven't noticed krulis do that much wrong, he likes going forward alot but has a sweet shot from the blue line and also nice shot from close in. his defending doesnt seem to have any major hole sin either Tvrdon does not speak much english probably never even been to this country before let alone play in this league mmm i think he does speak english mate, seemed to be coping at the last signing anyway from what i could hear. after all, believe it or not they do speak english in america and seen as he's was playing there for a few years i would guess he pick up a decent amount of english

As a matter of fact i have and IMO Krulis has been coughing up far too much. I'll pass judgement on Roman after his injury clears but still have doubts. If we didnt have the likes of Kimmy and Calle we would be at best a mediocre team. I feel and this has been backed by others that we have too many individuals and not enough team players. I know its early.......We all have different views!

Right, first of all Buzz Bee, it's nice to see you back on this site. Shame our two teams aren't playing in a unified league... [glow=BLUE,2,300]POWERS AT BEE TAKE NOTE PLEASE[/glow]. As for the result. Well it's disappointing not because we've lost to a BNL club, but because I've heard that we were poor. MP echos this in his post above. As for the Bees fans singing whatever they want...To those of you that it really annoys you...Why? We aren't a ISL team playing a BNL side, the two leagues are quite close interms of standards. Let them have their "You're supposed to be elite" rubbish, they probably wanted a win against us having not achieved one [glow=blue,2,300]ALL[/glow] season during 2002-03

I will be writing a report for THF later and will post it here as well. Bear in mind that I'm a Bees fan, so there is bound to be a little bias Let's face it, we all see things in our team's favour. However, it will be pretty neutral and will give you an idea of how the game went. Nice one Buzz. That was a pretty good report you posted. Certainly sounded like the game I was watching. A fair description of the game in my view. Your results so far suggest you have a good team - certainly looked like last night. Cheers - Steve

Yes, a disappointing game tonight, particularly after the 7 goals we were served up with on Saturday. As a number of people have already said, our passing was the main problem tonight, together with Bracknell's ability to gel as a team. Ironically, passing also proved to be a problem on the way home....our bus was blocked in at the carpark!!!

Well we missed JC, he draws so many players when he is on the ice leaving so much space for the rest of teammates his presence is needed in the team I think. Everyone has said it all before we couldn’t string 2 passes together for neither love nor money. It was just one of those nights and nothing to be concerned about. When the Bees travel to Nottingham it will be a different story just down to the size of the rink the Bee`s rink does not suit our passing game at all really. A lot of the time the Bee`s were firing the puck at the backboards and getting big rebounds leaving our D on the hop.
Still Calle should have MOM worked is socks off all night and deserved his goal.
What I will say is though when are the refs going to get better? Bring some of those locked out NHL stripy`s over here for a month and run a crash course in how it should be done. I know its hard but lets have some consistency in them.

A lot of the time the Bee`s were firing the puck at the backboards and getting big rebounds leaving our D on the hop. The two rinks are the same size. The Hive is an Olympic sized rink. It just seems small because the building is so small and the seating is so close to the ice.

The Bees passing was was quick and direct. Ours was slow and over complicated. A lot of the time the Bee`s were firing the puck at the backboards and getting big rebounds leaving our D on the hop. You'd hope any decent defence could cope with that tactic - it's hardly new. The Bees were better than us. They worked hard, forecheked dilligently, made chances and took them.

I hate to admit it, but the best team won!! Well done Bees, you guys had a great game. I was ready to leave after the 2nd period, we were WeeWee poor. That has to be one of the worst hockey games i have ever seen us play (although i did get a puck!). We couldn't pass, we couldn't shoot, our defence was almost invisible. The Bees had so many break aways (not the choccie bars!!) and our defence was no-where to be seen. They really played to win. I don't think it's because JC wasn't there - that's a poor excuse! If he had such a strong presence with the players on and off the ice then he would be captain right?? I think we were an absolute shambles, i know it's early in the season but that is no excuse. These are apparently professional sports men, it is up to them to keep fit. Last night they were tired and out of steam. Sort yourselves out lads, please!

That was the first time I've seen the Panthers play this Season, and I have to say that I wasn't impressed!
We were sitting up on the balcony, having been assured by the ticket office lady that we'd be among Panthers fans... not one in sight! Also, problems getting down at the intervals, so sorry to anyone I said I'd see and didn't!
To answer a previous query - the Bracknell ice IS olympic sized (it says so in big letters on the outside of the building, and looks it too) so is the same size as the NIC.
On to the game... If I hadn't known anything about either team, but been told one was a league higher, then I'd have picked the Bees as the Elite team. As we discussed with a nearby Bees fan, there really doesn't seem to be much difference between the two leagues, judging by results so far in the crossover games.
From where I was sitting, the first goal for the Bees appeared to be the fault of Krulis, he was trying to mark the bees player, but took neither man nor puck, allowing the bees player (sorry, naff at names), to receive the puck and skate off all alone to score.
Also, following the third Bees goal, did anyone else see Ivan and Magdosko(?) having a "I thought you were marking him, no I thought you were", kind of argument as they skated off?
I was very glad we pulled at least one goal back in the third period, but it really was too little too late.
The final two minutes, with Cruickshank pulled, was fast, frenetic and dedicated. Some great work ensured that the puck never left the Bees zone, but it just wouldn't go in the net!
I also noticed a distressing tendency during the final two periods for the Panthers to shoot straight and hard right at the Bees netminder, perhaps hoping that if they hit hard enough it would go through him? We had this last year, and I'd have hoped that Adey would have learned, or perhaps he did and his new players haven't learned???
That, along with passing practice (did we string more than 2 passes together all night?), must surely be things to work on?
Seeing the team for the first time, I have decided to make some awards...
The first goes to the most improved player from last season: Without a doubt this goes to Calle Carlsson. This is the third season i've seen him in the black and gold, and previously I haven't understood why he's been though to be a good player - average at best. Last night, he was awesome! I don't know if its that he's been given the C or something else, but he's improved out of all recognition. I saw him doing something that I only remember having seen the great Jimmy Paek doing - putting his stick down on the ice and also throwing himself headlong to stop the puck.
The best new player is harder, but I have decided that this is Marek Ivan (closely followed by Scott Ricci). Ivan impressed me all night long, quick, skilled, able to read the game. I expect great things from him!
Finally, the Bees fans. Being the only Panthers fans in among a load of bees supporters, with their **** drums in our earholes was a bit intimidating at first. However, I did get to the point where the drums were pretty ignorable, and some of the Bees supporters were really nice. We spent the second interval chatting away to a couple. The announcer was also lovely to Panthers fans, saying how nice it was to have us back, what fantastic supporters we were etc. The only sour note for me was the two drummers and their assorted mates who, at about five minute to go, stopped supporting their team and started anti-Panthers chants. Things like "You're supposed to be Elite", and "are you steelers in disguise" (this one particularly insulting), left a sour taste in my mouth. I don't understand why people have to be nasty about the other team, but that's my personal gripe.
Overall, a disappointing game, particularly given the score the previous night, and I hope to see improvements when I next see the team, at home at the end of October!

yes the bees record at home is second to none ... however their road record well am pretty sure we will have them in our barn!! Yeah - You may be right. Our away record is appalling, having only taken 7 points from a possible 10, scoring just 28 goals in 5 games and having conceded a whopping 17. We have won 3, lost one in regulation and one in overtime, with an average score of 6-3 in our favour. With poor road form like that, what chance do we stand? ;D Seriousely though, before the game last night, my oppinion was that Panthers were probably a slightly better team than Bees. I thought that, as we were the home team, the game would be close and could go either way, while the game at your place would go your way. I have not revised my oppinion since the game. I still think you will win at your place, but I would not be at all shocked to see us take something out of the game.

i am so pleased for you but whats it got to do with us losing in bracknell tonight? too many puckbunnys lately imho...... Get over yourself, how the hell does that make her a puckbunny? She was merely commenting that Clarkey had a great game (which incidentally DOES have to do with the game) and that therefore she is having his name on her shirt. You may have been annoyed we lost, but theres no need for that. I'd just be glad that they were actually trying to shoot maybe placing their shots will come next? Calle is doing great this season, hes played well in all the games I've seen and IMO opinion deserved MoM in at least one, probably more of them. He seems to want to do anything to stop that puck getting in the net, and doesn't go forward as much....maybe hes decided he wants to be a keeper instead of a forward?!

I know who you are now mingle ( ithink)
plus bracknell ice looks alot smaller than the NIC's but isn't (197x98ft), it is probably just the size of the seating, how can 3000 people fit in there??
as for panthers, well if they weren't out dinking last night, then god help them.

Tvrdon well is just plain and simple rubish( to put it nicely) plus he seems to put more effort in skating back to the bench than he does when he's out there. at one point he could of got the puck easily infront of a bracknell player in our zone but just let the bracknell player get it.
we saw how fast is against guildford(once when chasing a player back to his own zone), so why doesn't he skate that fast all the time if he did he would be unstopable
magdosko would make a nice fifth defenceman
Krulis shouldn't even make that, for bees second goal i think, he just let a player skate right by him for a breakaway on cruickshank.
and wojciak, jus isn't good enough to get regular shifts, didn't look like he could skate for a bit of the game.
Clarke, ahlroos, carlsson, and Ricci, a the best players at the moment and thats how eveyone else should be playing. ahlroos just seems to skate and skate and skate,as does clarke.

also one question, why are there always steelers fans at panthers games, as there were two at bracknell, last night, now thats about 160miles that they travellled just to see panthers and bracknell??, unless they lived in bracknel.

Well said GB. I agree completely. I think we all expected too much from him. I for one thinkhe is a great asset and he can't be rubbish being as (before the games on sat and sun) he was our joint second highest point scorer behind clarke and ahlroos. If that makes him rubbish then I shall agree with Heja. I do have one problem with Roman though. Why the hell doesn't he shoot the puck more?? He has the best snapshot I've ever seen yet he always passes. I just feel that the team were generally alround poor. No one was really to blame for the lose its a team game so the team have to pay the consequences. Anyway we can tell them all exactly what we thought of them against Bracknell tommorow at TGI Friday's.
