Rumours on the bleat that Campbell not coming and being replaced by a player who played in the NHL last season! If true, looks like they're trying to gain the record for club going out of business in the shortest time after the start of the season!

Rumours on the bleat that Campbell not coming and being replaced by a player who played in the NHL last season! If true, looks like they're trying to gain the record for club going out of business in the shortest time after the start of the season! The fact is mate, they will never ever learn. They will exit this hockey landscape the same way they entered it, overspending to feed their egos and inflated opinions of themselves. I feel they are 'going for broke' knowing full well that the only way they can tempt the vast majority of fair weather fans back is by winning winning and winning some more, it's everything or bust and the latter will happen sooner or later - again - you just cannot run a business like that.

Jesus. Do they breed stupidity up there or is it just fed into the water system?
If they ever run out of cows excrement to swallow up there in Shuff they can drop in around my way as there is tons of the stuff here on the Manchester/Cheshire borders and at this time of year it stinks, would be doing me and my nasal a real favour.

I'm sure Matsos, O'Connor and Simmsey saw the accounts. Where are they?

Haha, I love how anyone with a different opinion is stupid.
I don't know either way if we will go bust again - none of us do, cos none of us know the finances. So I'll just wait and see, not jump to conclusions and say 'They'll be gone by November' or 'No wya we'll go under'.
What exactly about that makes me stupid, or sticking my head in the sand?
They will have seen them, and they were a big part of why YS went under.

You are a loss making organisation, you do not have the customers to fund the products you are buying and haven't had for a long time. Guess what happens to a company that buys too much stock that then gets left on the shelf......
Does raise the question over the non existent league governance yet again. It seems the EIHL will simply sit back and watch the Steelers, and their latest 'management company' implode all over again for the umpteenth time.

So how much do we lose each year? How much are we paying this year, and how much is coming in?

So how much do we lose each year? How much are we paying this year, and how much is coming in? Your last management company went bust owing the best part of 300,000. It wasn't the first to go bust either was it? You'll have to highlight to me which one of those companies went bust whilst not owing money - doesn't tend to be the case. You lost money on 60% of your home games last season (as stated by Bob Phillips) Your argument smacks of typical head in the sand Steeler syndrome. There are plenty in your fanbase who know different and act differently but there are far too many who like to ignore the facts. You have lost money year on year for a long time - that is fact Your roster this year will cost at least as much if not more than last - Simms seems to think so and it's not as if you've gone cheap is it? You do the sums!

I'm surprised you can get a coach company willing to take the players to games. I'd want paying in advance.

Can't do sums without numbers - dont know the numbers so can't make decisions. How is that stupid and head in the sand?

Good luck for the new season and good night. Go back to Sleep Sheffield, Look at the celebrity in the announcers booth, go back to sleep Sheffield, ignore the charity money still in the bucket, go back to sleep Sheffield, We have a new coach forget what happened to the old one, go back to sleep Sheffield.

YS went bust owing £300k, current Steelers management company (sounds a bit oxymoronic that, like army intelligence) is already short all the season ticket money and having to cover the loss from an apparent 'six figure investment' as well as fund the start to a new season.
Even without exact figures things don't sound good already and thats without taking into account a title sponsor who provides nothing other than surfing a Facebookesque site and sending out mail shots off the side of a desk, a second sponsor who is giving you the use of a few cars for nowt and a few very low rent businesses or small charity organisations (not known for dealing out wads of cash, unless the Steelers are now a deserving case) who have logos littering the ice surface.
Have the Steelers got, other than this mystery 'six figure sponsor', any sponsors that are chucking in enough money to at least pay for half the season, bearing in mind last season the crowd couldn't be relied upon to stump up cash to attend, even on the back of a double winning season?
You don't need exact figures to see the Steelers are on their knees, throwing their all into one last roll of some serious loaded against them dice.

I think the Steelers management actually believe they are operating in an alternate universe. Some of the stuff they say or try to do is hilarious.

To be fair to the Steelers management (and I feel ill just saying that! ;D) it's only an article in the Stir, after all... this could be something drawn up by Whisperin' Bob off his own bat. As for "may attempt to sign 590-NHL game veteran Kyle Calder"... more like they might ring his agent, who may then fall off his chair laughing...

Might I suggest that this falls bang into the line of their 'boom or bust' policy. They are unlikely to pull this off, but just mention of it may generate a bit more interest in them and push crowds up. Thinking about it, if that's their intention, it's a very clever move in some respects. It plays to a lot of their fan base's much loved belief that they are the cream of the crop and helps generate interest from those that bought all that BS back on day 1 of their organisation coming into being.

Whenever I need a good chuckle I just check the latest developments up the road. Lets be honest, if they could get Calder, theyd surely just release Campball from his contract and take him anyway. The words Pure and Fabrication come to mind.
