The rumours are that...
A). They have sold Milner for less than he said they could.
B). They have sold Young to Spurs without him knowing.
C). Milner deal is agreed but Lerner would not give him any of the money to spend on the team.

O'Neil's a miserable git. Let's get rid of Crapelo and make him England manager!

I can see why Villa fans would feel upset at his timing but at the end of the day It's Oneill's reputation that is at stake. In the last couple of seasons Villa have been in a category of trying to break up the top four alongside Man City, Spurs and Everton. Now Spurs achieved the goal and have strengthened accordingly whilst Man City have added a lot of quality to the team. This obviously left Villa and Oneill in a situation where they either accepted that the two others were leaving them behind or they invested in further quality players themselves. The money is either not there or the chairman isn't willing to spend it and therefore a CL spot is now a distant dream and Villa will find themselves competing for a Europa place, if the fans become restless because of this then Oneill would certainly receive a considerable amount of stick and I can understand why he wouldn't want to stay at a club whilst watching there two biggest positional rivals of the last few seasons sail into the distance, especially if when he first joined he was promised the funds to comepete for that CL place.
