LOL!, I'm keeping this country going mate. I do have a radio though, I'm having a retro world cup.
Actually, Adrian Chiles or Radio??? I think I got the better deal.

PS, Pidge, did ITV HD really miss the goal?

Yes they did , they went to a car ad for 2 mins and when the feed went back it showed StevieG celebrating !!! what i thought at the time can t be posted on here, it was disgraceful, ITV were flooded with complaints about it. Thank god BBC have got our game on friday. Now slovenia won, our game next wed is huge to say the least

itv have the next England game.
Thank you Germany for finally giving us a good game. And for thrashing the Aussies. As for England...
Only Gerrard and Heskey did themselves any justice. Despite Heskey doing his front man job I would still drop him and go with the 5 man midfield. Bring Heskey/Crouch on after 70 minutes when Barry is shattered.
And bring in James or Hart and please don't play SP again! It'd be nice of Rooney and Lampard play too.

As much as I hate to say this is anyone else thinking that despite supposedly being a team in turmoil the Germans look the best team so far?
England = Average France = Average Argentina = Average
let's hope it's just first game nerves eh?!?!?!

Its been a pretty poor world cup quality wise!!
Who says Germany won t go far, people should learn no matter how average their team look, they ALWAYS perform in major tournements.
My bet is they ll be getting to the semis at least . This is without their best player too.
England need to be making big changes, id say at least 4 , (Out = Green, Milner, Heskey, King)
Im not expecting us to get past the quarters, we have no creative flair and can t keep hold of the ball for for that 3-4 passes !

With all due respect pidge, I don't know how you can think that Heskey should be dropped for our next game. In my opinion he was by far our best player saturday night, and this is coming from someone who doesn't rate him highly. Rooney however...

In my opinion he was by far our best player saturday night, and this is coming from someone who doesn't rate him highly. Rooney however... Gerrard was our best player by miles, so apart from setting up gerrard, what else positive did Heskey do as i must of been watching a different game!, He was clean through and whacked the ball straight at Howard, was offside at least twice, was clumsy.. nothing new there.. Hes a crap footballer, always has been always will be..... and how can you play someone whos hardly played club football all season Rooney had to drop into midfield because he wasn t getting any service, I say drop Heskey and play a 5 man midfield on friday. and most of all, how can he play ahead of someone whos the 3rd top english player of goals to games ratio....

It is a sad day when Heskey is our best player.
I think if you drop Heskey we would stop playing one out football and instead get the ball down and out pass the opposition, like we should have done against an average US team.
I hope England team watched the Germans because that is how you play against a lesser team. Why pick the keeper 2 hours before the game, Cappello should have decided on the keeper and defence 2 years ago and let them get used to playing together.
My final gripe is bars charging £5 - £10 to get in to watch the game. absolute P-Take, anyone paying to get in and buy over priced beer needs to seriously look at themselves. If you keep paying they'll keep doing it. Why can't we have a free big screen in the market square?

Very disappointing performance. I'd add my vote to a five man midfield, Rooney on his own up front. Heskey did his job OK I guess, but it just encourages us to go direct too often, and we can't have him missing golden opportunities like the one he had.

Id play Gerrard just behing Rooney for starters, play Barry just in front of the defence, Id start Joe cole too , we ve got to get into the habit of playing it around the oppostion instead of hitting hopeful balls upto carthorse only to lose it seconds later, its not the way football should be played

4-5-1 won't work in this World Cup. Rooney's notoriously crap up front on his own.

Would it not be the same as how rooney plays for United? I'd agree with Pidge's selection and if Rooney needs a strike partner i'd go for Defoe, he won't miss.

Would it not be the same as how rooney plays for United? Yeah, he has been playing that role, with a fair bit of success.

Rooneys bes time with united is with someone up top with him, and that's from a season ticket holder at old Trafford. When he's on his own, he always comes too deep and is ineffective.

Just out of interest. Out of the England v USA or Italy v Paraguay, which of the big guns would you say would be more disappointed after their first game? Both must have been looked at pre-match and seen as wins for both Italy and England and yet both finished 1-1.
Personally I'd rather be an England fan.

Italy were improved second half, nothing to write home about still but they got better at least. I don't think either side (England or Italy) can be particularly happy with their first outing, but just as we should beat Slovenia and Algeria, Italy should beat New Zealand and Slovakia.
Anyhow, seems King's out for 3 weeks.
