Not a nice position to be in. So close to pushing for the playoffs to get into the mega bucks and they will surely blow it by getting 10 points deducted. At least they should still stay up. Administrators brought into Selhurst park

Sad really, as much as I despise Colin (and Simon Jordan isn't exactly a likeable chap) I do have a lot of time for Palace as a club.
Maybe they saw it as inevitable so thought taking the hit now gave the players the best chance of knowing what was ahead of them and what needed doing.
It does, yet again, stress the precarious position of football at the moment. I suspect this will not be the last club to enter admin this year and something really needs to be done.
Something i know nothing or very little about, Rich I don't know if you can shed any light, but what is the position in the UK like compared to abroad? I know that in terms of professional leagues we are streets ahead of places like Spain, Germany etc who maintain far fewer professional clubs, especially when considering the size of the countries, but in terms of debt and financial position?
Quite simply we have to get away from this culture where it's ok for a guy to earn 100k a week to play football - not because it's morally wrong - you could argue many salaries are morally wrong, I dare say many in my industry (financial services mainly) earn absurd amounts - but because a business can't sustain paying out 80% of it's turnover in wages. It's just getting stupid, you have got Man U saying they will offer Rooney 150 - 200k a week for Christ's sake. This whole approach filters down and you've got guys playing in League 2, even in the Conference earning a very good wage to play football when really their ability and skill level doesn't deserve it and their clubs can't afford it.

BBC reports only Forest and WBA have made mids. His agent has said on SSN that he ll go to a team who give him first team football and it won t be down to who offers him the highest wage

This whole approach filters down and you've got guys playing in League 2, even in the Conference earning a very good wage to play football when really their ability and skill level doesn't deserve it and their clubs can't afford it. I cant think of any club which could claim to be a business. They all rely on investors and sales of players who probably dont even exist yet. The nearest is Arsenal I guess, but nobody would invest in a lower league club as a business with an ounce of sanity. You need to find the right person for the right club, and hope they follow you through and do things the right way. Simon Jordan was that man, but Palace dont appear to have found "another Simon Jordan". Completely agree its a culture thing. Its only going to get worse too IMO. Football clubs are about ambition and dreams, and often moving debt around! Not a good basis for business! If you dont buy into that dream and ambition, and rely on figures, forget it unless youve got a bigger plan ala Sullivan and Gold at West Ham. They know (Birmingham was a big risk) they could get a club for a good price, steady the ship and sell it to somebody for mega money who wants to buy a historic premiership club as a toy. The way they did it with Birmingham was poetry. What happened at Portsmouth though shows it can go very wrong. The thing people dont talk about is the heart of a club, the fans. Slapping Palace with a 10point penalty when their fans were dreaming of the big time is horrible. Now, theyve done nothing wrong, but were around before Jordan and will be around after him to pick up the pieces, without actually doing anything wrong. I genuinely feel for every palace fan.

Burnley are a successful business. Man U were before the Glazers took over.
There are a few who operate in the black. Not many.
