The 6th Annual Nottingham Varsity Ice Hockey Match will be held at Trent FM Arena on Monday 15th February 2010 (FO 19:45). every year the game raises money and this year’s chosen charity is CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) Tickets £3.50 each (on sale end of Jan) from www.nottingham-arena.com . Executive Suites available (£120 for 12 persons or £140 for 14 persons). Last year this was a sell-out, and I have no doubt that this year will be the same. For a game with passion and crowd interaction and bucketloads of banter, you can't go wrong with the varsity game. With Trent losing their unbeaten run last year, they'll be out to destroy Uni Of. Get your tickets soon (well, once they go on sale) to avoid disappointment.

Great night out. We'll be there, hope those Toffs haven't got too cosy with the trophy, 'cause we'll be having it back.

This was absolutely brilliant last year, the banter between the uni's was better than our matches, and the entertainment going on was superb.

Missed last year's game, don't want to miss this one.
Proof that you don't have to have the top level of skill to have a damned good game and a very entertaining evening.

Too right Buster, I was totally gobsmacked. we'd be chucked out by the yellowcoats if we carried on like that but all in good fun, as a neutral I laughed all night long, the chants never stopped. Bring it on.

Katie (it feels wrong not typing/saying your surname), you will forever be a trent student when it comes to varsity, however a ceremonial send off will have to take place.

cheers for the sticky Kim. No problem. I've posted it over on THF too. you will forever be a trent student when it comes to varsity. Too right. It's getting on for 9 years since I graduated and I've been to every one of these games since the second year of it (Trent won in a penalty shoot out after being 4-1 then 5-2 down and tying it in the final minute - one of the most enjoyable games I've ever seen).

I've been to a few of these now, and the atmosphere is awesome - best I've ever experienced! I've never been to uni but will support the Uni team as I've a few friends who went to Uni, but the Lions usually have players on both sides so I don't really mind who wins!!

This is the first one I'll be missing, due to being in Courchevel for the ski season.
I am however going to watch Oxford Uni play Courchevel @ the Courchevel Forum on Jan 13th...always quite a 'lively' encounter from what I've heard.

Likely to be any fights in this game?

Post by buster on Jan 8, 2010 12:00:36 GMT
there were about 5 fights last year, though there was no bad blood.
*edit*
that was mainly because trent were down a couple of goals (dont remember the score) and decided to bring the pain to the toffs. it made for a very entertaining final 5 minutes that went on for ages.
what i didnt understand was people in cages trying to fight.
i'd happily step up as a ringer to fight someone this year, to put on a show. when i say step up as a ringer, i thats the wrong term because the A's and B's ability blows me out of the rink!

Trent were down about 6-1 i think at that point, the students loved the fights there was so much noise when everyone dropped the gloves at the end

I've heard about these games being great fun but never managed to make them. This year i think I'll finally make it down. Having been to neither Trent of Nottingham,i have no personal link to either. However, as i only know anti-poly songs, I think I'll have to support Nottingham. Your Dad works for my dad, And one day you'll work for me, Thats the way it should be, So we say *** off to the poly, Cause we're a University
