Already heard at least 4 different names mentioned as playing well tonight. Thought apart from the 1st 10 minutes (when we were rubbbish) we were very good tonight. Coventry are not that good for a 1st place team (not on a big ice surface anyway). Hirsch who incidently I think is superb, stunk tonight and Panthers exploited him brilliantly. We defended well got a few bounces and were clinical in front of the net, well done Panthers, can't wait for tomorrow night when I will be drunk and and won't notice as much about the game.

From a first period that promised very little, a 6-2 win was a great result. It didn't look good with the icings and slack passing, at the start, but some good goals were scored. The stick work and passing for Levers goal was excellent.
Nice to see around 8 blaze fans stayed to applaud our boys off at the end.

Great result lads! Lets for once take our form away from home and do the same tomorrow! Larocque was much improved and seems to have found his feet. Levers is 100% heart week in week out. KSP should take alot of confidence from tonight also.

Excellent performance tonight, superb win, the blaze came out in each period guns blazing (exuse the pun) for the first 5 mins and then once wed survived that it was us all the way. Personally thought Macaslan deserved MOM but it could have gone to a few people. i thought Clarkey had a good game, his goal scoring threat was not there tonight but his defensive game was superb. good to see someone improve their all around game when the sniper value goes missing.
Special mention to Corey who didnt get one penalty all night!
More of the same tomorrow night please guys!

its a good job that most people here arent in charge of flicking the switch to the electric chair. the amount they change their mind on people is ridiculous.

KSP looked good tonight, would of liked their 2nd goal back though
Hirsche let the whole pram out after the 4th (or 5th) which was funny
good all round performance thought tonight apart from the first 5-10 mins
more of the same tomorrow

Good game I thought, one we deserved to win. The Saint'd want that 2nd goal for them back, bit of a weak one, but other than that he was solid enough. The McAslan/Galbraith combo was firing nicely when they were on the ice together. Wasn't a perfect game by any stretch, but they played with a bit of fire about them and were good value for it in the end.
Now to do the business at the icebox.

Not sure why some people are calling that a dull game... fast, furious, some good hard checking - and (obviously) a nice tally of goals! Well-worked ones, too... no garbage.
Home games against Coventry always seem to be entertaining... although I could do without us looking so uncoordinated to start with! What was it - 3 icings and a 'deliberate' offside all in the first few minutes? Didn't help ourselves there... and, of course, their first goal. But hey - we battled back in great style. Interesting to note how Corey said in that NEP article that he and Bergy needed to be scoring again - and both did! Nice to see the return of the Bergy Bounce as well.
I kept thinking during the game that Coventry may or may not be as talented a team as we have - possibly not, in fact. But they do appear to be the most well-drilled team in the league. They get the basics right much more than any other - passing, positioning, the little things that create scoring chances and help to outwork the opposition. If we could only get to that level, we'd be unstoppable.
Good work by KSP, although I might have given MoM to Steve Lee - awesome work the whole game, made their imports look silly a couple of times. Marc Levers was, as ever, hard-working and crucial (and perfect positioning for his goal - lovely) - and what can you say about Sean McAslan? Just a total monster, absolutely immense. Nice to see Cameron Mann proving his skill level is there - we could just do with seeing that a bit more often! A bit disappointed with Clarkie's lack of scoring at the moment, although he is working hard out there and as someone else pointed out, he is doing a lot of good two-way work. Need the sniper back, though.
Not going to talk about Hicks. Utter garbage.
Here's hoping that Coventry's defence collapse again tonight... it wasn't just Hirsch, they all seemed to give up and let us waltz in (although perhaps that's a little unfair to our team, who did seem somewhat rampant by the last 10 minutes or so). Pity that wasn't the Sky game!

Great win by the guys last night! Some sublime hockey moves, and an edge and directness that has been missing for a while. KSP deserved his MOM IMHO, but Stevie Lee gets better with every game, as does Mann. The secret to beating Coventry appears to be play a high tempo, physical game with plenty of forechecking to prevent the Blaze setting themselves to attack. Let's hope we keep it going in their barn tonight! Did anyone notice the Blaze back-up nettie last night? A return to old time hockey, with 'Psycho' Steven Doyle from way back in the days of the Solihull Barons - 34 years old now! You have to go a long way to find any other nettie with his nose for trouble - the pinnacle of his career being the 1994/5 season with the Barons, when in 41 games he let in 251 goals @ 6.97 per game, and amassed (according to hockeydb.com) 2,160 PIM ;D I remember him for his liberal use of his 'tomohawk', and what was reported as being a decapitation attempt on a passing forward! Pity Thomo didn't pull Hirsch and let Doyle have a go last night! Finally, I have to wonder about the 30 minute delay on face-off last night. Now claimed to be because 500 people hadn't entered the Arena by 7:00 pm due to road closures, etc, but we were told of a delay as soon as we walked in the Arena at 6:00 pm, so the decision was obviously not a spur of the moment one taken at 7:00 pm. Also, we came along Castle Boulevard (the scene of most of the trouble between the EDL and the Police) @ 5:45 pm and had absolutely no problems - in fact it was easier than normal to get in, and there were more than the usual parking spaces available in Fletcher Gate at that time. So, did I miss something elsewhere?

You mean his slightly stupid slashing penalty? If so, I'll forgive him that for being key to a lot of our scoring last night.

thats the one Yotes.
if we had been scored on during him sitting the penalty, this place would be rife with people calling for him to be gassed.

Gas the DJ! Playing 'You are not alone' by Michael Jackson really got me pumped up for the start of the 3rd period (I fell asleep).
As for the team great win as I expected, there's no doubt this team can win the league. when they get the confidence up and the passing going there's no-one better.
Yes, Galbraith's slashing penalty was stupid (out of frustration), but that move when he sent the entire blaze team the wrong way (for Macca's goal I think), Different gravy.

As much as Soderstrom is a dirty little bleeder, doing that at that time with us 3-2 up was a very silly thing to do. If theyd have scored then there would be a few more pages added to this thread. Another thread would have been set up about Corey benching himself if they'd have scored when he gave the puck straight to the forward. Setting aside the fact he scored a blinding goal and gained an assist.

just 5 pages against coventry . Panthers must have won! Probably because it was a saturday night and people decided to go out, so can't remember much of the game, or they haven't got to a computer yet McAslan and Galbraith. Stroke of genious by Corey for having them playing on the same line together. Jade's work for our second goal last night was pure class. I'm so glad Mann scored that one on one, because the uproar on here would be unbearable, he finshed very well, hats off to him. Levers and Lee had great games as well, but I thought KSP deserved MOM last night. Stood tall all night long, will want the second one back, from where I was sat I didn't know what route that actually took to get beyond him. There has been some home games this season where he's deserved the MOM where he hasn't, so I was happy for him to get it tonight. Glad Corey and Bergy got on the scoresheet. Can't say I noticed Meyers much last night, but for a defender that's a good thing, same with Larocque really. I still think DD is still nothing but an average defender considering all the hype that surrounded him during the summer.

well after the first 8 minutes of dross i was wishing i was one of the ones that couldn't make it... but how things change.
6 brilliant goals in their own right, i was shouting for man to earn his money buy finishing his breakaway and he did it with ease.
bruce's miss in the first, at the time i couldnt make up my mind whether it was a crap miss or unlucky, i would say unlucky as the puck came through and hit his stick rather than him taking a shot imo, i said at the time i'd hate for that to have cost us the game but luckily it didnt and we scored from the pp with a great finish from mac.
glabraiths slashing penalty was pure petulance, yes soderstrom pshould have got a penalty but the reaction (which is what is always seen) was not on and could have cost us with it close at 3-2
ksp was again solid for the most part, he reduced the dropped rebounds in front of goal however there were still some and the second goal was a shocker to let in but for the most part he was much improved lets hope he keeps it up.
