Be nice for the Eagles to have a wee run in the cup this year! I remember watching the Challenge Cup final in 1998. That was about the only time I've ever cheered on a team from Sheffield. What an occasion.

Keith Senior did play in that game - started his career in Sheffield. Just a shame that Keith, and others went to L***s when the Eagles we're no more (at the time)

Saints 26 Leeds 18
I was a bit edgy about this game. Leeds have been playing well and have lots of strength and sheer power. They do lack a little in pace and speed of hand and that was where the game was lost. Saints ability to move the ball quickly and their speed over the ground brought them 5 tries. Leeds tried to rough it up once they fell behind, particularly Bailey, but in the end they just became indisciplined and gave away penalties and yardage.
A great win for Saints especially as Cas won in Hull, but injuries to Long and Gilmour, as well as Fa'asavalu and Roby getting knocks, could be costly if they are long-term.

The ref spoilt the game imo. was always going to be close, saints got the bounce of the ball, and a few calls off the ref (how did they get the penalty when Gilmor when swinging punches i'll never know?) but Saints did play well. what a hit from Bailey though!

You will be in a minority then. Eddie, Stevo and Clarkey as well as Paul Cullen were all praising the way ref Phil Bentham handled the game. The penalty was given before Lee Gilmour started swinging, so was the correct decision. This is where rugby differs from hockey as the original infringement was punished and not the retaliation. The hit from Bailey was hard, it was within the rules but it was dangerous. It was done to take Fa'asavalu out. Had it been his arm into Maurie's face it would have been called for a High Tackle. I thought the hit on Bailey by James Graham was exception. It too was hard but it was a real flying rugby tackle without the intent to take Bailey out of the game.

Are you surgesting Eddie, Stevo, Clarke and Cullen know what they're on about? LOL!
Sonny Bill Williams was hailed for his shoulder chargers, but funny, when Baily does it everyone wants the rules changing.
Diskin is the only man cited in the game, for a dangerous tackle. Gilmour cleared of a grapple tackle lucky imo.
It was a good game as always, great advert for the game.
RIP Leon Walker.

Steve Macnamara has got to be feeling the heat, even this early in the season. Seriously underperformig the Bulls are and I don't think the fans will tolerate it for much longer. Paul Cullen for the Odsal hotseat anyone?

Fantastic game Greatest TV comebacks I’d still give to the Buffalo Bills who came from 35-3 down with about 22 mins left to beat Houston 41-38 in a play-off game. However, true story...... I turned over just after Bradford scored the try at the start of the 2nd half I guess that the heat must have gotten to them?

Saints beat Wigan tonight 19-12, awesome result considering we had 3 top players out! The league looks like its taking shape now already with the usual 2 at the top, seriously hope its not going to be like this every season. But the "big 2" are so far ahead of everyone else at the moment..

What a week it has been for us Saints fans.
On Sunday we saw off the Rhinos at Headingley, with a superb display in the Challenge Cup. The second 40-20 by Jonny Wilkin was absolute class. Catalans Dragons await us in the next round.
On Thursday, we came out on top in the big local derby match with Wigan, to go top of the standings. Saints took the chances while the Warriors just couldn't get through the brilliant Saints defence. Evenwhen they had six consecutive sets, Mick Potter stated that it was 34 consecutive tackles made by Saints.
Then on Friday, the Bulls of Bradford caused a little upset by beating Leeds Rhinos 10-6. RESULT!! That keeps Saints on top with a 2 point cushion.

....And so it continues. Leeds fall to another defeat, this one is a complete shock at home to Salford. They now drop to third 2 points behind Huddersfield Giants and 4 behind Saints. ;D Saints won against Hull 44-22 with 9 tries and only 4 conversions. This dead ball kicking problem is beginning to worry me.

Salford's first win at Headingley in 32 years apparently!
If you'd have said Cas would have an identical record to Leeds after 9 rounds at the beginning of the season I'd have laughed. Great start to the season for the Tigers. ;D

Leeds Rhino's had a 6 point lead last season mid way, they ended up losing the league, I'm hoping this happens to Saints and this time Rhino's take the league
