Unfortunately we won't have tickets available for those that want to buy them on Sunday (they've not been printed yet!). We will have them available to buy at training on the 6th August from your friendly Rink Rush representitives who will be present.

Thanx to all who turned up, another enjoyable day.
Well, there is only one more session before game day so can I ask that as many players as possible try to make it. This is so we can iron out the line matching and also get people used to the forced changing system that will be employed during the game. The cost has turned out to still only be a fiver, you can't argue with that for 2 hours eh?
Please try and get there if you can.
Next session is next week Sun 6th Aug 12 - 2 @ ice Shuff.
Hope to see you all there.
Ps, if any of you got away without paying this week please make sure you pay double next week. The money is going to the cause so you don't want that on your conscience do ya?

Just a suggestion for game day guys. I think we should run it like an under 10s match if there is going to be a forced change system. So every 2 mins the clock stops and the hooter goes or someone with a claxon marks the 2 mins. Coming from a playing point of veiw, this would be a lot better otherwise we will get a situation where players will clock watch coming up to the end of 2 mins and make a pass in the direction of there bench to gain an advantage. Plus, as i have seen today, when you shout change, not everyone stops and doesnt touch the puck. You will get one or two who will make a final touch to get the puck in the direction of their own players. Also. a whistle and stop of play would mean a face off, which in turn means that the attacking team will keep a well earned advantage. The final point (shut up i can hear you shout) is that you will all get more playing time, as you wont be wasting 10seconds+ everytime you have to change.
Coming from a referee's point of view, whoever refs the game will more than likely have under 10s experience as this is where most officials have to start. Playing an under 10s system will mean that we are playing a system that the referees are used to. If we just have a free for all once we come to the line change, it could all start getting very messy, and potentially cause an argument (e.g. he touched the puck after the 2 mins, thats not fair!!! lol) Under 10s hockey takes around 2 hours to complete a game, not bad me thinks!
If this is the style we are already playing, then i appologise for having a bit of a rant, but from what i heard today you guys are planning on following the system that we trained with.

It was going to be as we played today, however it did not work as planned. Next week we can try your system (it had been sugested by a few others as well) and I am arranging for an air horn to mark the changes. Stopping the game will also make it easier to chop and change the lines to get them more evenly matched.
It's all a learning expierience eh?
See you next week.

Just to echo what Nemesis has said, please can you make every effort to come along to the training next Sunday if you can. We want to get the lines matched up as evenly as possible and we can try out different systems of line change. This will be the last training session before the big day itself. I know there were a few mutterings about the strength of the respective teams, but let's try and remember that this game is not about who wins, it's about raising lots of money for charity.
Cheers,
Jono

I think it's extremely important that people realize what this forthcoming game is all about. Of course the people involved want to win, it's Nottingham and Sheffield, but of the many people participating how many can say their lives haven't been touched by cancer in some way or another? Mark and Paul Balm have put many hours into this event and the cause is rightfully close to their hearts, they don't do it because they want to win, to be the centre of attention, they do it because they care passionately about the cause. It would be a crying shame to let them and everyone else down.
Mark.

Thats good news nemesis and jono! The under 10s style is a great way to play a game where you have such a mixed ability. Its easy to keep tabs on whats going on, and it looks better!
As for the mutterings regarding the strength of each team... I know i was mentioned as i play for the lions and a few found it a tad unfair that i was playing against them. Mark has hit the nail on the head, lets remember who and what we are playing this game for. It would be a great shame if people dropped out now due to strength of the teams. I will only be playing at half the pace i played yesturday (unless we are losing of course!)

After watching the training yesterday,I think U10`s playing rules would be ideal for the game. It gives everyone time to get to the bench and change.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the session and as stated earlier theres a mixture of playing abilities,so the lines can be paired up the same as with the U 10`s.
The main thing about this game is raising money and having fun.
I`m hoping to get to see some of the game and I`m really looking forward to it. Unfortunately I won`t be able to get down this sunday so hope it goes well and look forward to meeting everyone on the 20th.

Just wanted to post a few comments about concerned raised about the two sides.
This game isn't about Nottingham or Sheffield, it isn't about who wins or who loses or by how many, it isn't about who gets the bragging rights for the next year. What it is about is raising money for charity & to have fun doing it. Don't get me wrong I'd expect both teams to want to win the game & I'll be highly surprised if anyone playing was of a different opinion. It doesn't matter to me that some players are better than others. Every player is as important to the game as any other regardless of ability or experience. The whole ethos of the game was that it was for anybody regardless of their experience & it saddens me that people want to withdraw because of a percieved difference in standard. I hope those that had doubts do re-consider but if anyone has any queries then please, PLEASE, contact us either by e-mail or PM so that we can hopefully allay their doubts.
If anyone does want to drop out for whatever reason can they let us know as soon as possible but at this late stage it may prove dfficult to find replacements.
On a lighter note keep a look out later for some very exciting news regarding the shirts!
Thanks,
Paul (on behalf of the Rink Rush team)
