galbraith is a top earner because he is one of our better players. He has as good as vision in the game as tessier makes inch perfect passes. And has the best hands in the league for me just get rid of rumun because he is just useless and bring in a macalistter type dman. Totally agree, I'm sure there are plenty of ex NHL d-men that also happen to be top heavyweight fighters that are out there just waiting by the phone in case Neilson rings. Mac will be one of if not the biggest earner at Newcastle, Ndur I very much doubt is on anywhere near the same considering the circumstances when he signed. If Ndur has broken his hand then I'd like to see him released and Galbraith cut. Move Richardson up to the forward lines sign Timmons or a near as damn it type of player (unless Clayton Norris happens to be in great shape and fancies coming out of retirement after five years) and sign someone in the mould of Kraciek. All of these tasks are obviously much easier said than done. Or if there was two top d-men out there who fit the bill of stay at home heavyweight enforcer and an offensive d-man with sixty points in the bag who also has that nasty streak then if we couldn't afford them would it really be the end of the world if we released Meyers aswell? Oh isn't building the perfect roster easy in theory

Id take Domish, but i think a lot of AHL teams will have first refusal on them.
It seems natural to look at them as they will be needing new teams though
realistically, i think O`Dette looks a perfect fit for us, at 6"5 and 230lbs he d be tough to shift ;D
Hes won a AHL championship too, looks steve Munn materiel, looking at his PIMs he likes to scrap too

i think ndur should go for a big d-man that can fight
cook, galbraith have improved in the last few weeks so keep them going for a bit.

No way should we get rid of Bergin. That's just a plain silly idea.
If we get rid of Ndur, we need to make sure we get a heavyweight in. Bergin, and to some extent Richardson, can fight but I'd much prefer them being on the ice scoring/playmaking. I don't want them two having to fight more, which I think would happen if we get rid of Ndur, and not because Ndur fights but because he's a threat (altho I think that threat is carrying less and less weight as the season goes on).
A few weeks ago I would've said drop Cook for a Dman, but he's improved recently so maybe its worth keep him. Hmm decisions, decisions.

Did Dan Tessier not spend time with Fresno Falcons? Wonder if he's got any numbers up this little sleeves?

It would have to be Brad Brown for me - 33 years old, so unlikely to move back up the ladder in the USA/Canada; 6'3"; 220lbs; 330 NHL games - no contest! ;D

With so many players coming onto the market who's to say that we'll get someone from Fresno? There is every chance that other ECHL sides will have a shuffle round, bring in an ex-Falcon and release someone else.
From the looks of it O'Dette looks a great signing but that's a bit unlikely, although he has played over the veteran limit so may not be able to find a new team in NA. Brown as played AHL this season so I doubt it'll be him, quite a few youngsters who probably wouldn't want to move so early in their careers.
Anyone heard any whispers?

Fresno are the most penalised team in the league so hopefully theyve got a couple of tough players we can bring over!
Pretty confident at least 1 d man will be in soonish

Release Bergin, are you Steelers fans in disguise. No body in this league wants to fight him with the exception of SOME of the heavy weights. We need 1 more stay at home defenceman in the mould of Steves Mum, that would settle our defence and allow our forwards to attack instead of being on the back foot all the time. Ndur out big mobile stay at home in, job done!

To those posters on this forum much more knowledgeable than me - could you explain why we would cut Bergin - I'm confused One poster said he was un-giainly, not sure if thats a reason, would we cut him because hes called Kevin and thats not a proper import name HL

By my reckoning, and to inform the discussion, last 10 games (W-L-OTL):
NOT 8-2-0 SHE 7-1-2 CAR 6-2-2 COV 6-3-1 BEL 5-3-2 MAN 5-4-1 NEW 4-5-1 BAS 3-5-2 EDI 2-7-1 HUL 2-7-1
Whatever one's thoughts on particular players as INDIVIDUALS, you've got to be really, really sure before making changes to a TEAM with that current form.

But this is where the coach earns his money, by making tough decisions. In my opinion he should not make sweeping changes at the moment, one change now and another, if needed, later after the new man has had time to settle in. Richardson looked good enough last night to keep playing on defence so bring in one quality defenceman for Ndur.
