Yeh they did have some junior players playing: Robert Lachowicz and Jack Prince. As far as I'm aware... Johnny Bell was playing as well.

Jeeesh, some good young talent around but a couple of raised eyebrows about the selection!

Jeeesh, some good young talent around but a couple of raised eyebrows about the selection! Do you actually know that the only guys who were selected were those who travelled? We've seen before that that often isn't the case as many juniors have to turn it down for one reason or another. Junior players put up with a lot of late nights as it is due to travel and awkward ice time. I can't imagine a late Sunday trip back from Romford for a friendly game is top of all parents or junior coaches (if there were any junior games today) priorities. Their junior team games come first, then other commitments that they've already signed upto around their schedules.

The two juniors that were there deserved to be there. Not sure if anyone else was asked, but pretty sure Jonny Bell was the only senior to be asked (but could be wrong!)
Princey is a quality player. After training with him for the past month i still cant figure out his weakness!

Lacho trained with the Panthers last season and has been doing so occasionally this season too. Him and Neily do Panthers training generally in school holidays.

Goal scorers were: Corey Neilson, Sean McAslan, Matt Myers, Jack Prince, Matus Petricko & Matus Petricko again!!
A good game with a brilliant atmosphere!! My throat hurts a bit now!! Simoes is hilarious, managed to get him to dance on the ice, and then he threw water over us at the end of the match!! Possibly the funniest time I've had at a hockey match tonight!!

First rate. It's a shame all teams can't manage something similar just as speedily.

Great Night.
Sorry to anyone who tried to call me.. zilcho signal in romford ice arena. But the doughnuts were good!!! See always a bright side.
Good fun game tonight, everyone seemed to enjoy it and the players all had a play about and experimented. Calle was awsome... still has it in him. Wooly did brilliantly, and im serious when i say that, he really looked like an elite league no1 tonight, couldnt fault him on any of the goals.
Matus managed to miss another one on one with the goalie tonight, but was solid through out the game. Im suprised Simoes wasnt asked to benchwarm for fear of a serious injury, the guy was throwing some awsome (legal) checks, but as there isnt any plexi the romford guys were just jack knifing over the boards, Dont think the romford fans warmed to simoes very well at all. Macaslan is going to be one hell of a threat this year, always looked like scoring tonight.... and mustnt forget the pocket rocket james neil.... wish he had scored tonight, everytime he is on the ice he impresses me more and more, he really is a massive prospect. Well dont to the other new boys and a great goal by jack prince... and an assist from 51...
Romford... not a place for EIHL hockey, put it that way. There isnt any plexi, and rather strangely it was legal to play the puck off the nets, at any point??? the team benches are in the crown and blocked off by a piece of string and what amounts to a wet floor sign! also the benches are that small the players have to double up. Plus if you go, dont sit in the away block, you can see naff all of the other end of the ice.
Brent Pope might not have been the best player ever, but by gum he has the biggest gob in the world..... Scott looked like he had found a good level for him to play and seemed comfortable. All in all romford arnt a bad outfit, they play solid hockey but struggle on the penalty kill. Saying that, they must have massive home ice advantage, what with the lack of plexi, the boards have some of the most unusual bounces ever and the fact that the ice is so so small!
Cracking night all in all, suprised there wasnt more of us that went down, but the little few of us that did, certainly made some noise. Comedy moment of the night... quite a few, Mike Rees falling down the stairs onto the ice, Simoes soaking us all with his water bottle, Warren being in the rink 10 mins and having a whole cup of hot chocolate spilt down his shirt or jane trying to flash her lights at us in the car park but going through every other instrument in the car before she did!!!!

not a bad game really considering, it gave the brits a lot of ice time, Neilly really shone. Calle had the best game hes had for as long as I can remember, got that ripping slap shot back! Romford is the weridest rink ive been to! No plexi, netting that you could gift up and lean over the ice at the end while the players skate round. They create a pretty hostile environment down there but the security guard/bouncer did commend us on our chanting. He was expecting swearing. Dunno what sort of fans they normally get down there... or their clientelle but you have to go through a metal detector on the way in

all the younger ones had a storming game really. It wasnt a case of them just being out there as a token gesture, they really played well. Dunno how they would fare in an elite league match but Its good to have the links with the junior system

How quickly we forget the old LPS Ice Stadium.

Puckman... believe me i havent forgoten LPS, i still dream about the place. By todays standards, LPS wouldnt have been up to the job, as much as it pains me to say it, which is why the NIC was built. I loved the old place, and wish it was still with us, but times move on. On the same level, i liked romford, its a rink i would like to visit more often, and loved the fact that every word a player said echoed around the rink. But put that rink in the EIHL and it would be seen as unfit to play in, as was Lee Valley. Myself and ted had a look at the boards at the end of the match and there were holes in the dasher boards, bits missing. At one point in the match, one of the romford players dumped the puck, a perfectly flat, on the ice dump and as it hit the boards it bounced straight up in the air. Its not a rink that would be able to accomodate a sell out crowd either. The cafe and bar had huge ques tonight and it was half full.
Like i said, i like the place, had a really good time there tonight, just saying its not upto much more than what its used for.

yep... those boards were exactly the sort of thing that gave blaz his fetching scar. and yea, a sell out would be murder in that place!

It was much more fun at the old Ice Stadium when we had netting rather than plexiglas. When I first started going to games I remember being highly amused when players got checked into the netting and became entangled. If it was a Nottingham player the fans would rush to their aid and try and get them back on the ice as quickly as possible. If it was an opposition player we used to sit and laugh!
